6 speed Manual tranny problem

6 speed tranny problem
Driving car today encounter problem with transmission (6 speed manual) only allowing shifting into 1st, 4th & reverse. It is as though tranny is stuck in shift skip mode, though that's not showing up on dashboard screen. Even if car was turned off you could not find any gear but 1,4 and reverse. Any ideas on problem?

Sounds like bent shift forks, however your car is under warranty so you just need to take it to the dealer and let them worry about it.

There is a recall on the tranny. I got a notice from GM. Something about a retaining clip being installed properly. If not it can lock you out of gears.

Noob question, but could this be caused by a malfunction of the 1-4 CAGS shift program?

Sometimes, when I shift from 1st to 2nd, even though I have the skip shift eliminator installed, I swear I can feel it trying to force a shift to 4th...

Guys I think it is a computer / electrical glitch.. Or maybe along the lines Spartan01 suggested... I unhooked negative batt cable for a couple hrs yesterday and reinstalled cable and problem went away. (Gremlins) Drove car last night and today approximately 150 miles and so far no problem. Of course it's in the back of my mind if and when will this problem will reoccur. Talk to dealer and said they've not encounter this before. ( of course). So for now I'll drive the hell out of it and not worry about it. If it happens again then to the shop it goes, as I would not know where to begin to diagnose. Thanks for input from everyone.
