Just moved to Germany
Hows it going guys, I recently moved to Germany from Texas. I am in the Army and am new here, don't know if anyone stationed in Germany on this form that knows of any car meets or anywhere to get some work done on my 2014 camaro 1LE. Thanks.

They use to have a very good repair facility at AFES ON POST. If not go to the local Chevy dealer in "K" TOWN.

Take advantage of the Autobahn while you are there. Hopefully, you've been able to bring your Camaro. And, whether you did or did not bring the Camaro, my advice is to do whatever it takes to once--- ONCE--- rent a supercar while there. That's my one regret, my one missed opportunity. I always meant to do it, but never "got around to it...." and I regret that. A day with a Ferrari, Lamborghini, or Aston Martin would have run me almost a month's pay... it's probably still in that range, roughly. But, this may be your only opportunity to legally do 200 MPH on a public highway.
There's nothing like blowing past a Polizei while doing 130 MPH.... and then being passed by a blue- haired semicomatose old bird doing 150. Oh, and remember to stay to the right, unless passing. Even though perhaps 1% (or fewer) of the cars on German roads are USAREUR - plated, it seemed that about 50% of "left lane rolling roadblocks" were so marked. It was embarrassing... and, as patriotic and red- blooded as I am, I must admit: Germans are SUPERIOR drivers... the Americans never seemed to hesitate to drive at whatever speed they felt like in the left lane. Not cool. Oh, and as SCREAMING EAGLE mentioned, on- post repair facilities are great: Hopefully, they still do it like they did when I was a soldier, where they rent out bays, with lifts, available tools, and everything you need to do your own work. I wish there were facilities like that available to us stateside civilian maggots! |

Enjoy your time in Germany. I wish to go back someday as a camera toting tourist instead of a military wife like before. Awhile back there were some sweet posts of pics from a huge meet of Camaros in Germany but I don't recall what part of Germany. Hope your stay there is great & you meet some Camaro comrades!

Very cool pic. I was in Wiesbaden as well as Friedriksdorf. Don't think I spelled that right, but was very cool place. I was there in 2003.

Germany is a great place. I spent almost 8 years there and hated to leave. Mostly hung out in Mainz,Frankfurt,Wiesbaden, Darmstadt and Stuttgart. I drove a lot of 911s and a 911 Turbo most of the time. I really enjoyed my time there including when I blew an engine in my Trans Am on the Auttobahn. Thats when I realized American muscle was not for high speed touring. They are better now but dont try to run your Camaro with the Porsches ,Benz,BMW and other European cars.
But have fun and travel as much as you can. |
