Take it in for a crank test - could just be a dud battery really, but.....
Check the contacts on the battery posts - remove them, clean them with alcohol if they are dirty or corroded, and replace firmly back and see how it goes. I've had mine and a friends locally that had similar issues, and once we tightened down the contacts on the battery it never happened again and the factory battery is going strong. (after a good 2-3 day low voltage trickle charge to put some spring back into its step!) Low KM 2011 - about 3 1/2 years old |

batteries are weird. Ive seen some go early and some last forever. My wife's 1020 Malibu has 75,000 miles and still on the factory battery.

I still have hte original battery in my 2010 and never a problem but I am wondering if it isn't getting close to time for a new one. Thinking of getting a lighter weight one.

So you've had your battery for about 3+ years, it's sat without use for extended periods of time (with only 14k miles driving over that time), and you probably sat in the car using lights, radio, etc without the engine running possibly at a car show or while detailing...
All of those things (I assume) and you're wondering why your battery is dead? This isn't an engineering problem, time isn't friendly to any type of battery... |

I would suggest getting a Battery Tender. I have them for all my toys that don't get driven daily. I manage to get above average service life out of them when on the BT. Also do a physical inspection of the battery every few months to check for corrosion on the terminals. Also look for bulging on the case. That's a sign of age and potential failure.

On our 2010 it's been 4 yrs 10 mos. Still going strong on the original battery nearly 5 years in. Used a mini-BT on it from the day it got home from the dealer. Just over 12K miles.

no worries.. to reset the stabilltrak error.. remove key.. open and close door.. I found it on the web... whenever I get the code.. that clears it... not resetting the batters.. the error codes..

Dealers usually get the worst batteries, or so I've heard
Pepboys occasionally has good deals on their BOSCH batteries. NAPA offers a 7 year pro-rated warranty, if you look pro-rated BS. But my NAPA battery lasted exactly 7 years from the sticker date before it died on my other car. |

Also...
Daily driver car's batteries will last longer than weekend-only cars Cars that go on longer commute trips will have batteries last longer than cars that constantly go on short trips, get turned off, get turned on ten minutes later and go on another short trip. |

If the car isn't driven regularly I would recommend a battery tender. Keeping your battery on one of those will make it last for years and years. Pretty solid investment for $40

Gotta agree with this. My car has been in service since June of 2009 and still has the original battery. It's garaged and only driven about 2000 miles per summer, sometimes sitting a week or 2 at a time between starts. In the winter months I put a tender jr. on it, which is like 25 bucks... and (knock on wood) it's still going strong with over 5 years in.
