2014 Camaro Front Chrome Strip Removal

Gents,

As the title says, I wanted to see if there is anyone who has removed the chrome strip completely. I have thought about plastidip that i used to blackout my bowties and wheels, but to be honest with you, I would rather just remove it.

I am referring to the chrome strip under the hood on the front bumper.

Pic for reference.

You can remove it but I heard it leaves holes in the fascia and RS headlight housings.

Remove it and have it professionally painted gloss black.

I masked off the one on the 2104 RS we had and coated it with black. Came out nice. I used sheets of paper in most of the length of it as it slipped nicely between the small gap between it and the grill and paint work. Then used painters tape to secure sheets and mask the rest off. Trimmed paper even slipped behind the curved portions around the lights. Of course I lightly sanded the chrome strip so as to provide a substrate for the paint to adhere to. It made the grill seem slightly thicker once complete. My daughter now has the car. I'll try and post a pic up in the next day or so.

The headlights have no mounting holes on them, there are just holes on the sides of the fascia and along the grille. I just put RS lights in my LS with the heritage grille, no holes on them.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there are no holes in the headlights. I saw a 2014 with the strip removed. I'm going to remove the chrome over the headlights, and go with the body color, or the z/28 grill. That's the one thing I don't like about the RS package.

Chevrolet has always had this obsession with chrome trim and bumpers. If they'd paint match a lot more stuff, they'd have a lot better looking cars and trucks.
