I thought you was the far superior driver lmao ? With those tires you should be able to rev around 5k and ride the clutch out no problem.

5k? holy shit! If he was launching an S2000 maybe. The Pilots are good tires, but they are not anything special for drag racing.

Im not sure why your worried about a 5.0.
I drive V6 Toyota Camry with minor upgrades that puts down 316hp to the tires and have run a few 5.0's on the highway and not had an issue staying in front. Maybe it was just bad drivers in all of them?
When im in the SS they dont seem to want to play?

I'm not sure what size wheels he has but that's a factor. How big his wheels are combined with their weight

I also have ZL1 Repo wheels/tires on my car. They are great for road course type driving (they stick going around the curves/turns like crazy), but they're not the best for drag racing. Wide front wheels/tires slows your car down a little bit for drag racing.

Also, some drag radials would be helpful, but you Michelins are about the best street tire out there.

But either way (run what you brung? spelling). You should still kick his butt based on your comments.

Whole lot of 5.0 nut swingers in camaro5. If you don't think an SS and 5.0 is stock for stock a drivers race, you're blind as can be.

As for the OP, you have it in the bag.

Stock for stock? No...if the drivers are equal , the 5.0 is faster. I have raced many of them when I had my SS and lost everytime once we both got to 3rd gear, the lighter mustang begins to pull. 3rd gear is where the race begins from a dig with EQUAL drivers. This is the usual norm but some cars are just not as faster as others however.
