well after digging and seeing the R3 as the only possibility with a 3 point belt I'm still not sure. zfat's logic is sound it just comes down to which way to gamble I guess since I too will never ruin this car with a cage or even 4 point bar as I plan to haul kids back there. I guess you (mcrat) are in the camp that puts more in to having the 5 points than the possibility of not having the rag doll effect on a roll...but if you do get the bk bar and 5 points then you could use your 38.1 and not leave it at home right?

how would you deal with the sub belt without the slit in the seat? (gm should have had recaro put in)

or maybe I should rent an R3 http://safedrives.com/products.asp?cat=82 the folks on rennlist seem to like it.

If the bar is removable It's Just Another Checklist Item before I race. I'm used to changing tires and parts to race.

On our Corvette, the submarine belt goes to a bracket under the seat that I made, a mild steel strap and a eyebolt, just to pass NHRA tech. I didn't cut the seat, or drill the floor.

On our truck, it's different. It has to go through the seat or I fail tech, and there's a 4x4" backing plate under the floor for the submarine mount.

I too have kids, and will use the back seat for midgets between events.

The reason I don't want the 38.1 for fun events, is because the helmet it's fitted to is serious armor. Specifically designed to withstand a front engine fire at high speed. It's a blown dragster type helmet. Should last 20 seconds. The suit should last 40 seconds or more. Two layers of Nomex around my neck, 1 pc SFI 20 funny car suit, etc.

NecksGen 38.1 device hooked to helmet. My finger points to where the 5pt shoulder strap goes.

so get a super light stilo and use the necksgen if that's the way you go wiht the bk and 5 points.

After reading this thread I even more confused after reading this http://goo.gl/lUcm4T

maybe oem 3 points with an R3???

but then if you read this http://goo.gl/DZTbkV there is no real data on the R3 with 3 points at all but many believe it would not hurt and might help???

This option in the same budget as a new '14 z/28 and will get you around your favorite road course faster and more safely! They are even throwing in an extra set of tires/rims.
