Why does the ZL1 seem to hit a brick wall (according to these stats) by 150mph? Is it a gearing advantage in the GT500? Are the number skewed?

The last category is the most important, lol...

Yes mods in signature were installed. I paid 60k for car he paid 74,900 loaded. With my mods I have 75k in car. So when you consider bang for bucks I got the better deal. After visiting with this guy he's got deep pockets so if he was drop a few g's into his car it will no doubt be a different story.

Common knowledge has the GT 500 faster going straight, ZL1 king of turns. That's stock for stock. Either way these cars are cool. Remember when the 300 rwhp LS1 GEN 4 Camaro SS was the hot motor? Now we get double that stock. These are the golden times of performance cars. It's not the 60s/70s.

Wow that's $20,700 over the 2013 GT500's base MSRP of $54,200. I just attempted to build a fully loaded GT500 on Fords site and I could only get the MSRP up to $69k after selecting every factory installed package.

The GT500 doesn't "chew up brakes" when put on a track, they overheat during these tests not due to 30 extra pounds over the front end but from them not switching to DOT 4 brake fluid like the owners manual says to when the car is being raced.

Kinda how the ZL1's manual says to wait 1,500 miles for break in, changing the diff fluid etc. all which I bet was done before being sent out for testing. So shame on Ford for not prepping their vehicle before sending it out for magazine testing. They could learn a few things from Subaru who DID swap in DOT 4 before handing their 2015 STI off for testing.

A magazine tested an STI? Import tuner?

No, just Motor Trend and every other major publication invited to Subaru's press launch at Laguna Seca.

I'm surprised as everything I've ever read shows the ZL pretty much killing everything else at the track. Hell the Boss LS version is supposedly faster around the track than the GT500 so I'm not sure where they get some of this data from.

Maybe, but there is still the issue of an unbalanced car relying on the front brakes to do the majority of the braking. In addition, if the brakes are going away after one lap and magazines have mentioned the brakes on the GT500 fading on back roads (yikes!) there is a real isse if the DOT 3 is already boiling.

How in the hell did he pay $74,900? Dealer mark-up? So basically, his car was stock?

Your car is a beast btw, that's a lot of work!

Everything has an effect on performance. Some good some bad. I bet the Recaros are at least 30 pounds lighter for a pair of seats, that glass roof is going to put 100 pounds on the roof of the car and knock at least .1 corning G off compared to a full metal roof. The nav is just about 4 pounds of dead weight for antenna and wiring. Some of these items may seem small but they all add up.
