5202 LED Bulbs (Ebay)
Has anyone purchased these bulbs off of Ebay?
http://www.ebay.com/itm/SAMSUNG-15W-...aa8cff&vxp=mtr I know Ofer, AAC, and other vendors have them for sale on here, but these are less than half the price and the picture looks identical. Wondering if anyone used a vendor off Ebay for these bulbs and what life they've gotten out of them so far? |

They may look similar, but that's where the comparisons end.
The construction, quality of components, binning tolerances (color matches) etc. all factor into the brightness and longevity of LEDs. Plus, if you purchase them from a real vendor you'll get a real warranty if you have any issues. You may get lucky and get two LEDs that are the same color, but even if that happens, the failure rates on ebay bulbs is well over 50%, and you'll end up spending more replacing them then you would've the first time. If you need more technical reasons why ebay LEDs don't compare, feel free to call us and we will explain in great detail: (314) 205-3033 Nick C.

I'd stick to one of our active vendors (i.e. Apex, Ofer, AAC, DD). The support is worth it to me. I will spend a little extra to keep my money with those who are part of our community.

I bought something similar looking to those off ebay except mine are 80W (I think they're called Genssi CREE or something similar). They're awesome and super bright! Looks just like the HIDs I used to have. No issues whatsoever. As far as I know, 50W should match OEM brightness and anything under that is generally for looks (please correct me if I'm wrong).

Most of these eBay sellers will include a well-known brand name like Samsung, or CREE in their listings, but I can almost guarantee the LEDs you receive are not being constructed with quality components or decent LED packaging. Cheap marketing tactic, nothing more
It's also worth noting that the wattage rating (80, 50 etc.) is not a true indication of the LED's actual light output. It's not really a useful measure either because it's a maximum rating not taken at normal operating levels. Very similar to how audio setups are marketed as 2000 watt etc systems, that doesn't mean you can run 2000 watts all the time without damaging or ruining the components altogether. We have recently acquired some high end light measuring equipment and will be posting 100% accurate information about all of our lighting products. Including lumen outputs at normal operating conditions (realistic), and accurate chromaticity charts to show you the exact kelvin temperatures for our products. This will allow you to pick LEDs that match your needs accurately rather than guessing and mismatching LED colors. Just another way we can help our customers get exactly what they want the first time and clear up misconceptions about lighting. Nick C.

Just wanted to add that leds highter than 10 watt are not going to run at maximum power. I believe the car only allows 10watt unless you construct a heatsink and rewire. The good thing about have highter watt and running at lower power is that the leds themselves will tend to last a bit longer as they run cooler than maximum power. I hope this makes sense and yea, I wouldn't trust ebay lights. Some might be lucky and get the led that won't melt the housing or wires but honstly, is it worth the risk?
