I believe Mast does as well but to retain AFM you would have to keep the AFM lifters which is a horrible idea and your just asking for costly trouble down the road.

L99 AFM lifters are garbage for high performance use.

Why do you feel that AFM is something you want to keep? It really doesn't save you gas unless you're doing A LOT of highway driving.

Personally, the afm lifters are flaky when pushed...heck my first camaro had problems at cold start after 7k miles....no way I would keep them unless u are keeping stock cam. Look how limited the lift is on the tsp afm cam.

Just for another nugget...the way tsp does VVT cams is different than gpi. It would be worth your while to look at dynos from both vendors. Tsp has a lot of research in theirs and they work. Gpi has done some pretty nice builds/cams recently and sometimes "new eyes" on a technology help to grow the product.

I see so many afm lifter failures, I won't even install a cam that would retain afm. Asking for problems. They don't live good with the stock cams...lol.

The purpose of a VVT cam is to be able to tune in more hp in the higher rpms, the AFM lifters will fail if you rev the engine to higher rpms pretty quick. Bottom line, if you want to use a VVT cam, ditch AFM...

A properly done VVT cam will produce a ton more bottom end and mid-range Torque plus the added top end Horsepower and RPM's!!

That's a good statement to get in here. Not that mike@newera said anything misleading at all, but VVT is great for a street car too.

$2k is great compared to a motor rebuild from a trashed lifter.

VVT is for low end and mid range power. The phaser allows the movement of the cam for more advance down low and then retard through the RPMs to gain the peak power back. The top end power from VVT to non VVT is basically the same.

I'd like to hear more on this, I really don't understand the VVT stuff. Without googling, I'm imagining that the cam is advanced or retarded and the valve events are appropriately matched to add more power?

I've heard of new Mustang GT's having custom tuning that can then turn 8000 making power up there... Is this similar stuff?
