LSA Rev Limiter
Where is the rev limit set in the stock calibration and what specific action occurs when you hit it?
Just installed a data logger and wide range O2 and am seeing some weird things that I though was the rev limiter. After looking at data, I'm not so sure. Kind of looks like it might be misfire. My car is 100% stock. |

6250RPM. It dumps the boost and cuts the fuel for a split second. The RPM only drops a few and the fuel comes back on. If you don't shift or let off the throttle it will just keep doing it, feels like the car is surging.

Stock calibration cuts the fuel at 6200 rpm then it will be re-enabled at 5975 rpm. I will feel like a big "pa-pow" and massive miss then it comes right back on.

Engine speed was just over 6200. No change in foot pedal input or throttle but rpm started dropping. It dropped about 1000 rpm. I saw no change in injector pulse width. I need to go back and look at boost. The other strange thing is AFR went way lean, like 22:1. The AFR and logger are new. Today was the first time logging with the AFR. It all seems to be working right. I was thinking misfire. I think I'm going to look at the plugs.

Thought I read redline was 6200, fuel shutoff at 6250. Doesn't matter to me, mine is set at 6800 now lol. I haven't come up against it yet. I bumped the rev limiter a few times when the car was stock and didn't notice anything drastic just surging.

I found the rev limit the first week I owned mine on the road course. It feels like a lot more than a surge. Feels like you shut the key off. And it was "Pa-Pow" when I hit it on the dyno that everyone in the shop went "WTF was that." Natural tendency when you feel it is get off the throttle immediately.

Maybe the pa-pow changes with gear. I usually hit mine in 3rd and its not too crazy.

The pcm can cut fuel, spark, or throttle % in any combination it sees fit.

From what I've seen in all LSA ECM M6 tunes (V and Z) rev limiting is only controlled by fuel cuff off; not spark or ETC. The rev limiter by gear for the M6 is 6200 rpms; but there are also is a Main Rev Limiter Upper of 6300 and a Main Rev Limiter Lower of 6220 rpms.

Yes, it had to be fuel cut. I'm not logging any parameters that confirms that but seeing AFR go to 22:1 is somewhat confirming. This thing goes right to fuel cut at 6200. I find myself pulling 2nd right at 6000. If I let it go an past 6000, it's too late.
