In other words OP...the cop thought you had stolen the car from your parents or took it without permission. Then he was jealous you hadn't so he gave you a ticket.

Mark this comment as the first time I ever didn't defend the LEO
Nope, a lot of wanted people were arrested and dope was found because a stop was made for no front plate.
When a stop is made for no plate it's because the cop wants to ID the driver and vehicle. Additional PC could be developed to toss the interior. Writing a ticket is secondary.
I agree it is a good stop but if a cop stops you for no front plate, his/her motives may be something else. It certainly is not in the interest of traffic safety.
When you have 30 years on as a cop, please reply again.

That's funny, there's been a lot of people around here pulled over for it, I've never used a front plate on the Monte and never had an issue with it lol

We are lucky here in Ct. Two plate state but it's not generally enforced.
I bet over one in 10 cars doesn't have the front plate installed.
I never put one on my SS and not one stop in over 3 years.

I've driven my beater (98 Camry) over 245,000 miles without a front plate and never been ticketed for not having it. I've been pulled over and ticketed 4 times for speeding during that time and not once has the officer added no plate to the ticket. It doesn't appear to be a problem here in SoCal.

Just bought mine yesterday in Houston and the bracket came with it on the car. Wanted to put a bracket on the bottom but it was rolled out to me with the bracket already on the bumper. Now I have to get plugs for my bumper...

Bought ours in Marshfield, MO and the front plate bracket was in the trunk.
Dealer asked if I wanted it installed, and I told him not if I don't have too.
He smiled, and said "I don't blame you" and left the bracket in the trunk.

there's a manual sliding bracket available for 1/3 the cost, i'd go with that instead. or, there's the jacfab option if you prefer that look. i wouldn't spend $150 on something you'll break the first time you forget to put it up and scrape the bumper...
