Not sure if that's convoluted logic, or sarcasm.

"Dangerous" is part of their job. Be it a stop on the highway, or in a Wal-Mart parking lot. Never know when that person with a burned out taillight just stabbed his wife, or robbed a bank and figures he has nothing to lose.

They stop people for these petty reasons expressly because of the chance they might be "ridin' dirty".

I think the no front plate law is total b.s. But, it is what it is. And they do what they do.

Leave it off and get stopped, don't bitch. Don't stab people, or rob banks, you won't have to worry when you see the red lights in your rear view mirror.

Well the plate is going on tomorrow. I work in a small town and the car is well known when I go to lunch etc. I have nothing against the stop but am real curious as to why I would get stopped for something like this considering the actions and interruptions to traffic etc. The traffic looked like an ambulance to an accident and it was a front plate shy.

I believe law enforcement is required and able to make good judgement which is why this stop confused me. I could see it if I was speeding, running a red light or something and he piled on with a ticket for front plate.

So the plate goes on and now I can get back to smoking the tires cause i aint been stopped for that yet.

Rhyder, he was conducting an investigation. That's what traffic stops are, he saw you pulled over and wanted to check the reason. Pulling over on an interstate or a highway isn't common practice unless you have a problem or are doing something ie: in your case texting. After he started talking to you why not check to see if you have any warrants etc... And as for asking you about drinking or having any weapons, those are fair questions. I don't want to start an arguement, that's just my .02... I see so many threads like this talking about cops saying they are biased/profiling/harassment but often times it seems like it's the other way around.

Interesting. In two years, I haven't been pulled over, and I drive in Dane County all the time. Perhaps my car doesn't stick out of the crowd as much.. Maybe because I drive at night more often, too.

Texas is a front plate state. NonE of the cars in my family have front plates on though. I did receive a warning from a state trooper when he pulled me over for going 94 in a 70. I did get a ticket for that though.

I too did not want to drill holes in my front bumper to mount a plate. I ended up buying a jacfab mount that uses preexisting bolts in the bottom of your bumper. It looks nice and sturdy. This small investment gives one less excuse for hassle on the road. For just under $90 shipped it is worth it to me.

I got pulled over a week after I got the convertible by the Highway Patrol doing 68 in a 55. The Trooper and I talked for 15 minutes about the Camaro and how good they looked with the top down before he gave me a warning and let me go. I think sometimes they just want to check out the car.....

Busted my balls over the tint, he said limo tint was illegal inn Virginia. Fine, I just bought the car and am heading to NY. What a dick, if you could hit a cop and not get arrested, he would've been out. Most cops are ok and do their job and I appreciate it. But some are real a holes.."..
So are the people they deal with.....

Sorry but it isn't a LOCAL Jurisdiction Law, it is a State Of Texas Law as you can read below:

I am sure he just saw the car and was bored. If he saw it from the front, wonder how he was sure it wasn't an out of state car??? Anyway, he seemed like a good guy. I was stopped once in our well known speed trap town for doing 45 in a 40 zone. He didn't give me a ticket but wanted to know what kind of gas mileage I got??? OK.......yeah!

Never got pulled over without a plate here in Washington State. Even had been stopped for other reasons, but plate was never mentioned.

If it was, I probably would still never have mounted it...until a judge specifically told me he'd put me in jail for not doing so. I was willing to pay the fine...

I wouldn't, however, complain about the cop doing his job. If it's against the law in your state, then you do the crime....you do the time...or you pay your fine.

I'm not bashing cops to be bashing, this is the only instance i know of that I don't agree with them. If you look back on most of the threads where people were second guessing the actions of cops I've defended the law enforcement, im told sometimes over the top.

its a pet peeve if you will about wasting/harrasing me when I'm going about my own lawful business just because they can

I know they have a hard job, I just think them pulling people over basically on the off chance they will get a hard case is wrong. however you dress up a pile of crap, its still a pile of crap.

As to the belief that the cop in my instance took 30 minutes, I timed that and it took exactly 30 minutes....I know odd , almost like he did it on purpose.

but the time it took is meaningless as far as the point, he pulled me over on the off chance i was wanted, and had the gall to say after holding me up that he was checking to see if I was alright..... there's a law that we cant lie to the police, there aught to be one they cant lie to us......
