On highways doing 73 I average 24. In the city, with a lead foot, I average 16.

Aren't manuals higher in mpg with conservative driving?

Mine is usually off by 15% or more.

Exactly. You don't buy an SS and be worried about gas mileage.

Let me put it this way. Would you rather spend money on fuel or on new mods for the camaro? Wow it's amazing how people think just because you buy a V8 sports car, you don't care about getting the best fuel mileage when using it as an everyday driver. For example, think about tractor-trailers, they are purchased for their power and pulling capability. Do they get great mileage? No way. Do the owners strive to get the best mileage they can out of what they use? Of course, it saves them a heck of a lot of money doing so.

Some people don't realize that it is not a worry, just wanting to get the most for our dollar.

Also I'm curious why you would buy an SS and try to make it look like a ZL1?

When I first got the car I would check the mileage manually, just to know how far off the DIC was... I probably checked it 3-4 times before I stopped manually running the numbers... Each time it was about .1-.3 higher than the numbers I came up with manually.. Close enough for me.

All I can say is don't pass by too many gas stations...

By the way, lower rpm will boost gas mileage... As will keeping to about 60-65 mph...

Beyond...watch the needle drop

Added note: v8 and gas mileage are not used in the same sentence .. That's not In the top 5 things you look for when buying a camaro SS.

I just found this one:
http://www.fueleconomy.gov/mpg/MPG.d...t&model=Camaro
It looks like there is no much improvement since 1987 on fuel economy. Just 2 mpg? Lol! Or I just missed something? Comments?

Mine's a DD and I personally dont pay attention to my MPG, I knew what i was getting into and I didnt care i just wanted my 426 hp. However the things that will factor in is how you drive it, terrain youre driving on, mods done to it, and altitude. At a 3% per 1000 ft above sea lvl loss of power you could be harder on the gas than someone who lives at only a few hundred ft above sea lvl to compensate for the power loss, especially on those mountain roads out there. Also some mods will improve gas mileage ex: CAI. So 21 MPG for you could be average. If you want to see better results try looking into some gas saving mods or altering dirving habits.

I agree, many factors influence. I am asking because I am planning to buy a C5 next summer and I am still in doubt which I love more, l99 or ls3. So, since I can't afford both, I am just trading off. If I understand correctly, there no difference anymore between M6 and A6 in terms of fuel burn.
P.s. I looked at your thread, great job!
