Both readings add creedence to why I ask that someone post up pic's of 20 mpg and 40 mph averages in a V6 or Manny V8 version. |

By comparision a A6 equiped SS, with only a gallon of fuel in the cell, driven in an average fashion could make the 20 mile round trip with a few drops of fuel to spare...........while on average your V6 A6 equiped car supplied with the same quanity of fuel would run out before making it back home. Strange indeed.

Casper, your comparison is very impressive. So your average shown is over the life time of the car, correct? Seeing as the car is rated at 16city/25hwy (a6 car), a true 50/50 city/hwy driving scenario would yield an 20.5mpg avg in a perfect world, so you're right there with... Average. Unfortunately I will never be able to do a comparison such as yours. I reset my trip meters, and fuel avg. each time I get gas. I regularly see 18-19mpg (19.1 being my highest) purely driving in my general travel area, speed limits in my general travel area range from 25 to 45. I consider that pretty good for "city" driving for a car rated at 16mpg city. Also keep in mind that when I see these numbers, I am purely driving for gas mileage, and practically ZERO hot rodding. If I start hot rodding it, it quickly falls to 15-16 (or lower depending on which lead shoes I'm wearing). Theoretically if you take my average city mpg, say 18.5, and 24 hwy that's a 21.25mpg average which is very close to yours. But those numbers clearly don't stand up in court, as you've got actual proof The highway mileage is what disappoints me. For a car rated at 16/24(m6), I can't seem to ever get higher than the mid 24s to low 25s, when I used to get 24-26 in my 04 a4 GTO. (rated 20mpg hwy). I was really hoping I could squeeze 26-27 out of the m6 Camaro. Not trying to start a debate, this is just my experience. Your numbers are good, very cool comparison. |
