I don't think it will be a different zl1 version. I would tend to believe chevy's testing equipment for another camaro model.
BTW I think the hood need some work. The inlets on both the top and the front looks busy.

Z28! GM surprised us all with the ZL1 announcement when everyone thought it would be a Z28! Now everyone thinks this mule is a track pack ZL1 but it might just be the Z28 built with the Boss 302 in it's sights! I'd bet the ZL1 is pretty much what you have seen already you'll get and it's obviously targeting the GT500. 2 different cars for 2 different purposes!

Do we know WHEN this picture was taken? I tend to agree that it is a chopped up zl1 test mule. I can't imagine GM would cut into zl1 sales by releasing a z28 so soon. Unless it was going to be a VERY limited edition like the boss 302 since we all know the zl1 will NOT be limited.

Z28 name is overdone and worn out. I wouldn't hold your breath for a gen 5 Z28

What I do know is I hope ZL1 is going to be released as optimized as it can be so this can be Z28. CAMARO shouldn't be without Z28.

If a higher performance ZL1's availability somehow enabled the 'regular' ZL1 to be offered at a more obtainable base price then this would be great news to me... otherwise, for me, this entire thread reads like, "how far do you think a monkey could throw a banana if he had superpowers?".

Why in the world would GM spend time and money on a Z28 to compete (sales wise) with Ford's Boss 302 when the 302 is a very limited production car? They have developed the ZL1 to beat all versions of the Mustang IMO. The pics of the black Camaro look like all the rest of the pics of the ZL1 in developement. The hood is a ZL1 hood cut up. The wheels are standard ZL1. The roll bar and seats, who cares all developement ZL1's have them. The rear brake vents, how can they test them, if they're there, if they're all taped over? Probably not vents at all. That's what I think anyway.
