Great... That's it. I'm buying a Prius. In fact - NO. I'm riding a bicycle and am going to start eating bugs and bark. This whole petrol-thing is rediculous. ZL1 is going to make too much power anyways.

I heard it will only run on rocket fuel because its going to be so fast .

Heard something about them adding twin turbo's and 4 wheel drive , oh and then I woke up .

I would honestly rather ride a bike, eat bugs and bark before I bought a Prius....

There is a 76 station about five miles from my house that sells 100 octane street legal unleaded gas from the pump. I'm planning on putting it in my ZL1, and hopefully it will provide improved performance over the usual 91 octane premium that's typically available in the Bay Area.

Won't help unless the car is tuned for 100 octain.

One hundred octane fuel can definitely help depending on conditions, such as those that are present on hot days, since pressure is directly related to temperature (recall that the ideal gas law states: PV = nRT).

As the temperature rises pressure rises, and as pressure rises there is a point where the fuel will be more likely to pre-detonate unless the timing is retarded (today most computer controlled ignition systems automatically detect when a pre-detonation condition is present and retard the ignition timing appropriately to avoid engine damage), which decreases performance.

If a higher octane fuel (meaning a higher fuel combustion temperature) is used, higher temperatures can be sustained before pre-detonation occurs and the timing is retarded and performance is reduced.

Yup. I have one about a similar distance and used to get 5-gallons at a time. I'd run my tank down to about 3-gallons of fuel, and splash a few gallons of 100 on track night. It worked great because I'd get a little ping because my tuner ran it a little aggressive (my car had bad oil in the intake problems, too) so I think that contributed to a little preignition. Anyways, I'll be doing the same thing just so I don't worry about anything. I'm planning on CAI, pulleys, tune, and light exhaust mods', so with a little more aggressive timing, I'll want to play it safe. It seems to smell better, too

It has been extremely informative to see the different builds folks at this site have undergone. Hang in there, the wait is almost over
I see at least a year of perma-grim incoming.

based off what the ss's are going for at trade in, if you could get a killer deal on an 11, you might only take a 1-2k dollar hit, if that if you buy now then sell when the zl1 comes in..

I had a dealer offer $38 out the door for a new 2011 2SS/RS with body kit. Still contemplating going to pick it up.

If you really want a ZL1, you will end up kicking yourself... repeatedly... when you start seeing those taking delivery in a matter of months.

It may feel like a long time, but it's really not. It's only about 6 months before these things start showing up on the street. We're almost at the home stretch, and it'll be so worth the wait
