they had this special ticket offer this past weekend at charlotte motor speedway, if u spent over 150 dollars on race tickets you could take ur personal car to zmax dragway and run
i was already purchasing tickets over 150 dollars anyways so i took the offer and drove my 2010 v6 camaro down to the drag strip
ive never done any racing of any kind in my life but i figured it would be fun to try
i spent the whole day there and an entire tank of gas, probably did 25-30 passes
my best time was 14.5 at 97.29 mph, is that good/bad/normal for a v6 camaro?

Hey I saw a few of your runs, I was there too! I bought tickets to the All Star race and got the same deal you did. Only had time for two passes but had a blast. First time for me as well at a drag strip. Best time out of the two was 15.03 @ 93 mph but left some on the track never went full WOT. I need to work on my reaction time. Cannot wait to go back!

took me a while to get the reaction time down but i got better at it close to the end of the day, id love to do it again but i dont want to hurt my car since its an daily driver for me

I never do more than 4-6 passes in a day...30 is was too much stress in one sitting. Is your car auto? And 14.5 is an avg stock time.

ill look into that club when i get some time
my car is auto, ill look and see exactly how many passes i did, but i did them over 5 hours, kept stopping every 4 or 5 runs

Id advise against more than 6 runs or so a day no matter the rest time but people will tell you different things.

What they will agree on is that your best runs will typically happen within the first 4 runs and get slower after that.

want to take mine to the track on a friday night being thats the only night here in my area the track is open. But its so late at night cuts into drinkin time. Plus i'd prefer to do it during the day anyway. sounds like fun hope you all had a blast

Does ZMax have any public nights or only during promotions like this? I would be more interested in watching than running but I couldn't find anything on their site. What is the nearest track that has "Test & tune" or the like? Darlington?
