As with most things, it's an opinion. You can read both the pros and cons but bottom line is, if you want it, get it. The sunroof does change the look a bit but that is the only major issue IMO. I have one but rarely use it. However, I like having the option.

All of last summer, don't think I had the A/C on once. Sunroof open, windows down and the music loud.

I would love to have a sunroof- but at 6'9" the Camaro is a tight enough squeeze in the headroom department. I'll be ordering mine without one.

I didn't get the sunroof, because I don't like the way it looks (like the reverse mohawk), and it does cut the cabin height quite a bit. That being said, it really depends on what you want. It sounds to me like having the sun is very important to you. If your positives outweigh the negatives then go for it.

I do prefer the look of the reverse mohawk, and the sunroof cuts a bit of headroom (I'm 6'2"), but I gotta have sun and wind. It's a California thing.
T Tops, why have you forsaken us???

I have not purchased my Camaro yet, and I just test drove one last week for the first time and it completely blew my mind!!!!!!!!!!
A pal of mine who is exactly 6 feet tall–like me–purchased his Camaro without a sunroof because he said it made the roof too low inside the car. Before test driving the car, I had pretty much decided I didn't want the car without a sunroof, and that I would pass on the Camaro if it was too claustrophobic with a sunroof. The reason I have to have a sunroof is because almost every car I have owned has had a sunroof and when you drive around with the windows rolled down and sunroof open, it really feels like a convertible. Especially on a warm summer night, or even on a warm summer day. I even like driving around on cold days sometimes with the sunroof and windows open and the heat cranked all the way up. The thing that worries me about the upcoming convertible Camaro is that if you get upside down in the car, you are pretty much toast and I don't want to die. Also from all the spy-shots I have seen of the upcoming convertible, it look amazing with the top down, but not that great with the top up. In other words, it appears to kind of ruin the magnificent lines of the Camaro–when it has its top up. I think the new Camaro is probably the best looking car ever made and I think GM would make a huge mistake to not offer it with a hardtop convertible like a Mercedes SL. So I went into the dealership all apprehensive about the sunroof making the car roof too low, and I was very pleasantly surprised to learn my pal seems to have no clue what he was talking about. (I think that some people might feel claustrophobic in the Camaro because its front and rear B-pillars are extremely thick and the roofline wraps around much more than any other car I have ever been in.) There was plenty of room above my head. My pal who was with me was 6'3 and his hair was touching the roof with the seat down all the way. So If you are 6'1 or shorter, I think the sunroof works well. I understand why people say it looks better with the reverse mohawk, which gives the Camaro a cool trademark muscle-look, but I think when it has a sunroof it gives it a different trademark look that makes it look more high-end. Also, in my opinion, cars without sunroofs feel claustrophobic. I like how in the Camaro the sunroof has the valance panel that can let light in through the glass-roof with the sunroof closed, or can be closed to make it feel more womblike or more like a cockpit. Sometimes–even on a rainy day–it is cool to have the glass-sunroof closed with the opaque valance panel open so you see and hear the rain on the closed sunroof glass.

I love my sunroof, use it constantly, its perfectly quite when its closed, a little loud vented, and not as loud as having the windows down when its fully open mainly do to the small windbreaker that pops up on the front of the opening, that has a mesh screen that breaks up the air while still letting it in. Also the one touch open makes it much more friendly for lazy people like me. But it really comes down to want you want.

I had not planned on getting the sunroof but I took my 17 year old daughter to the dealer when I ordered the car. She asked me if I may give the car to her some day and I told her maybe, she said then she wants a sunroof. I ordered the sunroof and I am SO glad I did. I have had T-Tops before but never a sunroof and I love it.
I only drive the car in the summer months and only when it's nice and sunny out and I can't remember the last time I drove the car that the sunroof wasn't open. When I'm in the car the sunroof is open. Just my opinion but I am very, very glad my daughter talked me into ordering it. Even though she wanted it for herself. Russ |

Wife wanted sunroof I didn't. She even offered to come up with the 900 bucks. I surprised her by adding it to the options list when I ordered my 2SS. I have to admit it was a good decision. It definately opens up an otherwise small space. As far as leaks my last Camaro (83'Z/28) had T-tops and for twelve years had no leaks. My 2001 Grand Prix has a sunroof. Never a drop. Keep the seals clean and apply a protectant periodically.
