ZL1 Headlights

I am a little confused, does a 2020 ZL1 come with a non upgradable led head light or HID? I would like to have something a little brighter than the stock. After searching, some sites show they are upgradable/compatible?

As far as I know, the ZL1's headlights haven't changed since 2017, they're still the same HID units.

I have no idea if they are the same but the headlights in my 2024 are stock and fantastic. I was totally impressed with them driving home last week a couple hours after sunset.

I know my 23 still has the HID's, I don't think any of the ZL1's came/come with LEDs.

Chevy changed the non-ZL1 models headlights to LED when they refreshed the front end. They didn't want affect the aero on the ZL1, so they didn't change the headlamps. That's what read, but they knew the Camaro was being discontinued and didn't want to spend the $$$.

Morimoto also makes D3 bulbs that are an improvement over the stock ones from reading older posts on this.

Going to try the Morimoto 6k. I want a little more white light and get rid of the yellow, they seem to be reasonably priced as well.

If it's not too late, I recommend going for a 5500K or 5000K bulb instead. You get the highest lumen output between 5000 and 5500, and the stock unit is 4200K, so 6000K may be too blue next to the standalone DRLs.

Yes it’s too late, I based my decision off a couple half decent headlight comparison vids, the one video they used the 6000 and it didn’t look overly blue. they are shown at 6:10 mark

LED D3S bulbs. I run them on mine and they have considerably improved the nighttime output of the headlights visibility. I'll shoot a link over here to what I used in a while.

D3S is bulb size. I've ran Morimoto 5500K since I got the car June 2021, mainly wanted a whiter light.

When I put the bulbs in, I also installed light smoke Headlight Armor. Between both, on a dark back road I can't tell the difference, increase or decrease, in light output.

Morimoto's have been faultless, always come on and never a Popeye. *knock on wood*

I run a set of the LED DS3 bulbs in my daily and can agree with ZLRob they have done wonders for me as well. I have a year and a half with easily 20-30k plus night miles on them with zero issues.

I can't find the immediate link on Amazon because for whatever reason they are not on there anymore but I got the Panoyu D3S bulbs in the 80 Watt version.

Given the way they look, there are other manufacturers that make the same thing and they look virtually identical.

Like I said, night driving is so much better these days after I replaced them over the HID's.

On dark back roads, do the LED bulbs have same throw as HIDs? Like on back roads where there's no ambient light? That's always the complaint I've heard and experienced about swapping from HID to LED.
