whats it worth?

a kijiji seller says he has a 3.91 geared rearend from his crashed 2014 camaro ss.
he had summit ring n pinion installed and is now parting out the car.

what is a fair price for such a rearend and how much more if axles are included?

and how does one not get ripped off buying stuff like this from across the country?

I purchased a 3.91 rear end on Ebay here in Florida back in March that was about 2 hours South of me. I paid $1200 plus shipping which brought the pricing around $1400 give or take if I am not mistaken. It had new BMR bushings installed. I have still yet to install it on my vehicle. So i figure with that in mind.. figure around that price range when it comes to purchasing just the rear end. As for the axles, I purchased axles in very good condition on Ebay for $120 a set then an SS complete driveshaft for $110.

Pretty sure OEM 3.91 diffs are unobtainium. If I needed a 3.91 diff, I would go 11-1200 in today's market, but that would probably take some stalking of a few sites for a while. Factory original diffs are actually the best ones to buy used because you are more likely to get a nice quiet rig. Buying something someone had built is more risky because their tolerance for gear noise might be higher than yours. FWIW, the factory AAM gears in any ratio are known to be the quietest and pretty strong.

I have the factory 3.91 diff but will be removing the BMR bushings and returning them to OEM.

After mine blew up, and I mean no mm forward or back nasty grinding noise, horrible smell. My Buddy's friend is some GM Guru, I couldn't use the Housing it was mush, he got a few parts for it and they were all Junk and he had to send it back, I mean how hard is it to get a Diff.? It blew my mind, so after months of waiting he finally got a good one with 3.73 and it runs like a charm again, since I changed my Exhaust I can finally hear what's going on in the back. But a Year of waiting? Crazy. How can those parts become so scarce?? Also, all in all it cost me $1500. I think I got lucky.

GM has discontinued nearly everything for these cars. From here out, everything will have to come from the aftermarket. As these cars get older and more stuff breaks, the aftermarket response will get better, but guys like me with ZL1 diffs will really have a hard time which is why I have another 3.73 gear and master kit on the shelf.
