ZL-1 vs. C8
How do we justify the fact that a 2023 ZL-1 is about the same cost as a new Vette with a 2LT package?

I actually went in to a dealer and talked C8 primarily because of the ZL1/8 costs are so close, though I would have had the Z51 package on it. a Few thousand more but the line was even longer to that car than the ZL1.

We talking about a base c8 stingray? If so the ZL1 has significantly more power and torque.

But you have to remember the Corvette does not include mag ride shocks, performance exhaust, or electronic slip differential. If you want the mag ride shocks and performance exhaust that will run you another $3090 so now you're up to $7945 more. If you want the ELSD, that will require the Z51 package which will cost you an additional $6345 and does not include the mag ride shocks. That will add $1895. Now the cost of the Stingray is $13,095 more than the ZL1. I maintain, the Camaro ZL1 is the absolute bargain of the Chevy performance line hands down. I spent damn near $11,000 in options on my C8 just to keep parity with my ZL1 that's the kind of bargain the ZL1 is.

Horse power and torque doesn't always equate to being faster. The C8 has a faster 0-60 time and quarter mile. Maybe more fun to drive but not necessarily faster.

The ZL1 slightly outperforms the base model Corvette Stingray. They are fairly close in price if there's no ADM, that being said, the C8 is selling so fast they can't keep up, the Camaro is not, so its priced accordingly. The ZL1 is an amazing value due to required pricing in order to sell them. The ZL1 wouldn't sell as well if it were another $10-15K more.

The ZL1 literally beats it in every single performance category except for 0-60.

And even that is assuming the C8 tranny will survive the 0-60. Lol.

I guess my bad about one thing. The price changes. I paid $72k for a 2022 2 LT with a few options and the ZL-1 I order is $70, 395. I should look at 23 to 23 numbers since the Vette went up even more than the Camaro. |

Main reason....2 seater vs 4 seater. For us that have families, it's easy for us to put the kid or kids in the back seat and still have a high performance car to play with.
Also.... the ZL1 has the manual option while the Vette never will sadly. |

Agree on C8 winning 0-60 time, but do not agree that it wins the quarter mile. Checking the respective fast lists for cars claimed to be bone stock finds the ZL1 with a 10.94 and the C8 with a 10.96, note that trap speeds are higher for the ZL1. Seems to me the mid engine gives the C8 the advantage at the hit, then the superior hp of the ZL1 chases it down and catches it by the stripe. The actual faster, namely top speed, I do think that an A10 ZL1 would leave a C8 behind in that test.
