Wow, I never heard that about tuning the 19's and up, I thought it was just the 22's on up. Carls green camaro was nice, but it's a 1ss, and mrc Is an absolute must along with a sunroof and manual. Also, if I bought it, I would have to put in $3-4k in mods just to get to where I was with my old car, and with prices so high right now, I would be spending way more to have what I had before. That's why I came to the conclusion of just getting a zl1 and maybe get it wrapped or something. Just perspective, I paid 50k out the door fully loaded 2ss in 2017, the dealer selling his car is asking $47.5k and it has over 20k miles, in my head, I just can't allow myself to do that lol. I'm gonna try to ride my bike for a month, throw out low ball offers and hope it all works out. Riding a bike in 116 degree weather is rough though, so idk how long I'll last lol. Thr new zl1's are just out of my reach is the problem with buying new. I can deal with 61k, but anything over, I just can't afford, damn this lady for doing this to me!

Not that it matters now, but it only had 4,800 miles.

It might have been the 22s and up, now I can't remember if I heard him right now not. I had a 18 and 17 so I wasn't really worried about being close to the tuning issues.

I can absolutely see prices coming down and not too far into the future, either.

Inflation, gas prices, and a lot of concern about the economy turning downward are putting a lot of people on edge about a lot of things.

I read something yesterday that said the average time to sell a Mustang right now off of a dealer lot (new) is something like 61 days. Granted, the ones that are dragging the average down are likely NOT the ones with V8's, but still...

Economy is slowing a lot. And house mortgages are down 20% with a now more then normal 9 month supply. I wouldn’t buy a car for awhile unless your job is secure in the next two years

I'm seriously considering selling mine right now to max out what I could get for it and then ordering a 2023. By the time it comes in, I could be in a pretty good position to negotiate a good deal.

That might work, but with no trade-in, you will be paying tax on the entire purchase price. That can make quite a difference on a $50-60-70,000 car. Our tax is 5% on vehicles, so on my ZL1 it will be $3,500-$4,000.

Yep. Understood and agreed.

6.35% is the "regular" tax level with a higher rate (7.5%?) for over 50k. And the luxury tax is against the ENTIRE price, not just the portion over 50k.

Interest rates are on the rise, so putting the money in the bank for what could be months will be seen as income. Plus, I will give up the storage unit rental for whatever period of time I'm without a car. Not income, but still a reduction in expenses. No insurance costs over that period as well, so again the costs go down.

Hard to guess what the "my car plus how much" cost would be against a guess off of MSRP for an outright purchase...

All though I do see on AutoTrader on many vehicles right now "Price Reduced". So maybe there is some truth to it. If dealers gave high trade values and now prices are coming down, they for sure would want to dump them now. Personally unless I needed a car, I wouldn't buy anything right now. If I needed a car, I'd buy one from a private party that isn't trying to make a mint.
Prices do seem to be coming down. I recently sold my Challenger (for the ZL1) instead of trading it in. I put it out for what I paid for the car a year ago but still $3,000 less than the KBB value.

Most dealers offered about $4,000 less than my asking price. When I mentioned that I had a dealer willing to meet me $200 below my asking price, I had other dealers encouraging me to sell to that dealer... So I did. They initially marked it up 6 grand but they have already cut that in half.

I added a few links below for visualization (in case someone doesn't want to believe a random stranger on the internet) People are financing more for longer with very little savings left. As of the latest data (April) prices were at an all-time high. It's not absurd to think used auto demand is dipping and prices are starting to follow.

This is one of those inflection points where you have to hedge your bets and pick a side. Personally, I'm on team lower prices!

why do you want the ZL1? are you going to be using all that horsepower or is the 2SS enough for you?

that was the question i asked myself and i decided to go for the 2SS 1LE instead of the ZL1.

buy new one, place an order you don't need to buy it when it comes and by the time it's time to pick it up most likely they will have some good incentives because the economy is going down badly. we will see that for the rest of the year with raising rate and inflated prices.

If those are 17/18’s I personally could not swallow paying that much for one of them. Prepandemic those same cars were 47.5-55k and you could negotiate down further. They were also 2 years newer than they are now. I know the market is different but I believe it will come down. EVERY enthusiast board believes their cars won’t go down due to rareness but no camaro SS/zl1 is what I would call truly rare as thousands are produced each year. My argument to people who think their cars are special and won’t go down is a cars like Toyota Camrys have appreciated as well so if both regular cars are up and sports cars, than I believe both will go back down accordingly once supply catches up. While enthusiast cars are disappearing, there are also some exciting new ones coming out as well. They aren’t extinct YET. It will be some time before they start to appreciate due to rarity.

I don’t have a crystal ball but my prediction this whole time was late 2023 prices will be back down however they will be adjusted for inflation. Still will be way cheaper than buying a used car today.

No prices coming down any time soon. Stop spreading fake news. Who the hell decides all by themselves to make such statements? They are not in the car business and no clue what they are talking about . There is no supply compared to the demand and most vehicles if ordered take months to arrive no matter what make or model.
