convertible top problem

Hi, just bought a 22 convertible and unfortunately I am a 2/3 glass empty guy [hate it but the way it is]. Looking at all the functions it does to open or close the top my question is , do they have many problems with the system? If so what are my options if it is half up or down? Book sayed nothing except a hex wrench to lock in place. Do they give you the wrench, if not what size is it? Alan wrench? Seems like you would have to release hydraulic pressure somewhere. I would love you to tell me not to worry about it. I had a 2011 for nine years and never, never gave it a second thought? Thanks to anyone who can help. Or tell me to worry about something that matters! I was told there was less room in the new one but had no idea it was this bad. When did they eliminate the door opener buttons? Oh well thanks for your help.

It sounds like you need to put the top down and go for a nice long drive. Quit worrying about all the things that could happen. The car could spontaneously combust and explode too...

Is it possible to have problems with the top... probably. But the most common complaint I've hear of are delaminating back windows and the sliding cover popping loose.

RE: the garagde door opener, I've seen some people stick one just above the rearview mirror, others (myself included) put them under the tilt steering wheel area. If you push it to the back, it doesn't interfere with the tilt at all and is still easily reached, and out of sight.

Enjoy the new ride.

No problems with my 2022 vert. I did put the Garage opener under the tilt wheel lower panel, but my knee hits it. So, I now drop it in the side door pocket.
At 73 I find it best to just reach down to the side. Just get out and drive it.

I was referring to putting in/behind the dash, just under the steering column. The clearance is there to put it all the way in (about 3") and as long as the remote is the smaller 1"x2.5" size it doesn't impede the tilt steering at all.

This video from Ember may describe it better. It's where I got the inspiration. Right around the 3-minute mark shows the placement.

The system will relieve hydraulic pressure after a minute or so of top inactivity, regardless of the top's position (service manual says to wait 6 minutes). I've left mine 1/2 open on several occasions and it'll start moving again (no pressure to keep it in position) after about 90s. From there you're supposed to be able to move it to a new position manually, but I haven't attempted this myself yet.

I've had my 2017 for two (2) years now, and have not had a single problem with the top.
