Probably a performance and liability thing for the yolks that tried to drive the thing in the winter. The general public still things all seasons means that.

50% of the vehicles in shopping mall lots don't have snowflake rated tires in my area where it's a true winter. Ironically, they are mostly AWD or 4x4s who think all seasons and flat roads are enough.

I'm running the same tire. On my 2nd set. They handle good on dry and wet roads. Not sure about snow but we got snow today. I will find out tomorrow when I pull out.

ever again.
I mentioned this in another thread but GY SC3 has been perfectly fine for me, and someone else in that thread concurred. As long as I am sensible with the throttle, I have driven in the rain plenty fine with them. They are not as great off the track as PS4S, but for the price, I can't complain much.

As for all-season... If you get any amount of snow, then I would get dedicated sets of snows and summers. All-season won't cut it. If you have rainy winters, then I currently have a set of Maxxis Bravo HP-M3 on my Mazda 3 that's working alright. Probably not as good as Michelin but they are a good value and I don't have any complaints so far. Another tire I have used is Michelin CrossClimate. Had them on my RX-8 and they were excellent in the rain, though so-so in the snow being all-weather tires. I still would recommend getting two sets in this situation, one set of summers and one set of rain-oriented all-season/all-weather tires.

Or, you know, get a winter car with proper tires. Winter driving isn't that fun with big power RWD so may as well save some miles, insurance, tire money (since most family cars use small tires), and gas money.

Except…made in China. I’ll go with a tire made literally anywhere else.

I just found.....Cooper Tire is one of two American-based tire companies left. The other is Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company.
Cooper has about 10 manufacturing plants in the US, but they also manufacture some in China and other countries, so at least its still the last of 2 American companies. Until America gets its sh!t together they probably have limited options on the best way to manufacture with all the regulations. So if made in China at least the money comes back to America, so I'm good with that considering all the other options of buying from non American companies where many of the tires are still probably made in China, and the money you spend goes back to a foreign country whereas you support them.

No love for the Generals?

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...el=G-MAX+AS-05

I have been running these (and its previous model) on all my cars for years. Previous to this I was running Continentals and bunch of other brands.

I live in the greater Seattle area so I get lots of testing in the wet and some snow. They have always been great. Even in the snow. Best part is they are very reasonably priced too!

Right there is probably your answer. When this car was launched it was intended to be "track ready," which is also why the stock brakes are semi-metallic. Also, going with a run-flat option let Chevy delete the spare tire and inflation-related equipment from the package.
So someone from Chevy went looking for a performance run-flat supplier who gave them the best deal.

I've got the Conti DWS06+ in 1LE sizes (and happen to be made in USA). So far they have been great in the cold but I haven't had them in snow yet.

The Michelin PS4S in our sizes is made in USA.

And owned in France. Macron the Covid Masked man pushing lock downs of its citizens is probably getting kick backs from each tire sold.

Needless to say, I'm no fan of them either (and that's an understatement), but it's hard to to find a "clean" tire manufacturer whose products are actually applicable to our cars...
