Questions about rims and tires
Honestly I don’t know much about tires. I bought some new nittos and now 2 month later I have a cracked rim. In my small town there is only 2 ppl that fix then and it don’t look good. So if I buy some MRR 228 20x10 and 20x11 will I be able to use my tires or will I have to get new tires also? Or should I go the route of getting a replacement factory rim?

those are 1LE and Zl1 wheel sizes so I doubt it based on the 17 2SS in your profile that you could swap over tires, so yes, new tires in the correct sizes for those wheels which would be 285/30/20 and 305/30/20.
If you cracked a wheel with that tire on it, I'd bet ya that the tire is toast, too. |

You can find wheels on ebay. Stock wheels removed when people go to aftermarket wheels. |

I think the tire shop dropped your rim or damaged it in the mounting process. I doubt you would ever get them to admit that. But I would go to a different shop and ask their opinion when they remove the tire from the old rim. |

You could run the stock 275 on the front and just get a new rear tyre

Nope. Front wheels are 245/40 so you can’t put 275/35 on just one side. Plus the front wheels are only 8.5” on an SS, whereas the rear wheels are 9.5” wide.

Well dang now I just wonder if I should just sell what I have to offset the cost of them. Also I would get the ZL1 size cause I have plans for a whipple so more grip the better.

Broken parts are always a good excuse for upgrades.

Would this just be a matter of how much wheel stretch is acceptable? I know it causes more wear to the tire but let’s face they are a loss now either way. If I sell them I’m not getting all my money back and if I use them I’m gonna wear them out faster…

245/40ZR20 I know these will be useless. Rear has 275/35ZR20 I though I could uses these on the front of the MRRs and just get some new rears but I’m getting mix directions if I can use them or not.

Which specific Nitto tire did you buy (Invo, Motivo, NT555, etc.)? Is this your daily driver in rain and snow or only driven in warm dry weather?
