Race ramps - old news to some - might help a newbi

Yesterday finally used my set of Race Ramps. Not one part of the car rubbed on the way up or down. Sure glad I went with the 80 inch model because I used every inch of the height clearance. Changing the oil and filter was straight forward. Just make sure you use a larger drain pan for the 10 quarts. Have learned to use a big flat drip pan and it always collects a few drops that splatter. Removing the filter was sloppy. Next time I might just punch a hole in the bottom and allow it to drain before removing. While the Z was on the ramps also installed 4 of the aluminum jack pads on the appropriate pinch welds.
Cheers

Yeah Snowwolfe, you are so right about the Race Ramps! They make changing the oil and working underneath the car so much easier. In my opinion, mine paid for themselves the first time I have used them.

I had a lift installed in my garage last fall, no more laying on my back to do car work.

Before you ask.....Waiting on my 1LE Wing to arrive!

standard rhino ramps with about 2-3' of a 2x8 or 12 laid in front of them do the same job for half the price of "race" ramps.

Sure rub it in. Garage height verification for lift is definitely on my list for the next home.

Agree. I will mention that my wood 2x12s that I have been using are extremely heavy.
I just bought some Rhino Ramps from Walmart last week. I will be using them for the first time this weekend.

To each his own! I’m satisfied with Race Ramps. I have a set of Rhino Ramps i use for my 2005 Silverado 1500 Truck that work perfectly.

I have 11ft ceilings in my garage but I am trying to decide if we are going to live here long enough to justify putting a lift in. Right now there is a built in storage shelf above the garage door so the door track is at the standard 8 ft level. I would have to remove the storage shelf and modify the garage door track and opener to go to full height. But man, do I want a lift!!

I just got the 67" (10" high) version and they're awesome. The little air deflector pieces on the bottom of the front splitter rub a little bit but it's nothing that concerning and causes no damage.

Yea, I had to go with a jackshaft garage door opener and raise the tracks, so they are about 3 inches from the ceiling. It took about a year to get it all done, because I did it in stages. I think it was $3K for the modification to the garage door hardware, new opener and labor.

I mean to say it this way if you're stuck with regular rhino ramps you can use the wood method to get the car up without the need to buy race ramps.

Yeah I know. No problem! Before I got the Race Ramps I used my Rhino Ramps with boards but didn’t feel comfortable using them that way so I bought the Race Ramps. It was a chunk of change but worth the cost to me for them.
