Obviously you're not new to the hobby if you've got a pair of 3rd Gens. Same rules apply: price, condition and previous maintenance. Other than the blend door issue I can't think of any major items and even that is not a deal breaker. These are very fine vehicles. If you don't get this particular one keep your eyes on the classified section in this forum. Some very nice ones pop up often.

My almost 11-year-old SS (38K miles) has been heavily modded, always reliable and it still gets compliments.
AC still runs strong in the Arizona heat, fun to drive and crazy fast. |

Thanks for all the reply's guy's . The car I'm looking at is $21790 with 69k miles . And as a sidenote , I think I just bought it as I got a response from the dealer that everything is a go !! I am buying this car from a dealer two hundred miles away , so the salesman sent me a walkaround video with the car running . It sounds pretty good !
Again I appreciate everyone's feedback and will continue to visit and absorb the knowledge !!! Last edited by romcjr; 02-19-2021 at 08:42 AM. Reason: Link no longer valid |

I like orange too, so
The price sounds good, as IDK if it was inflation or the other explainations but used cars jumped 10-15% 6mo ago, and this looks like it has the upgraded package with HUD and all, so price is fair. If it were mine I'd do a "stage 1" cam lifters and springs to get more performance and peace of mind due to the AFM lifter possible failure (tune also required). Or spring failure with good brand aftermarket springs. If you are thinking of exhaust upgrades, you can also google j pipe as well as the AFM failure mentioned above. Those would be 2 topics / threads I'd read up on. With a cam and tune I'd like that car too. Don't have to get crazy with mods and you might not have the AFM failure as others have said they've been lucky so far. That's a clean 3rd. Many of us have owned them, I got rid of my two 3rds to get the 5th. To get the most performance per $ this was the way to go. Restoring up a 3rd and buying an entire drivetrain to try to get good brakes and hp without breaking was going to break the bank. |

Nice! I miss all of my Third Gens! My first was an 89 IROC-Z vert, second was a 92' RS coupe and third was an 87 IROC-Z T-top. I am loving my 2010 2LT/RS which has been modded to fit my needs along with the prior owner giving it the ZL1 love by adding the OEM appearance package on it. My next Third Gen will be either an 82-84 Trans Am or an 87-89 GTA.

She’ll make a fine companion to your 3rd Gens. It’s a nice day in CA today and I had fun with my Camaro on the dry, sunny roads. I’ve had a 5th Gen’s since 2012. LT 45th. Now the SS. They never get too old. But obviously you knew that!

Since I'm always looking for an excuse to show off my Dads ride here it is. '85 Z28 w/ 383, built 700R4 and Moser 12-bolt 3.73. You can see why it was important for me to get a white Z.

Congrats on the new ride! Looks like you found an awesome car at a good price. I LOVE my 2014 2SS and looked for two years to find a car that was built exactly the way I would have ordered it from the factory. Last summer, I paid $10K more than you did, the only differences being this car had 4K miles on it and is an LS3 convertible.
I'll never sell mine and I fully endorse your decision. Good luck with her!

The only thing I can advise is to shop around. Don't get settled on one car; You can often find others in better condition and lower mileage at or near the offer price. However, if this is the best condition example in your opinion for the price, then don't hesitate. The 5th gen Camaro is awesome.
