Aftermarket seats
I decided to put a race seat in my car, lack of headroom. I read a lot of threads on here about seats, the airbag system etc. I just thought I'd share my experience with that.
First of all, what a pain in overall. I'm a bigger guy, so I require a bigger seat. 3 worst things to do in this car have been the short throw shifter, the radiator, and now this seat. Even the cradle bushings were easier overall. My car has the memory functions, so I read about losing the function of the mirrors, and the airbag light being on. I ended up buying a new seat harness, rather than stripping the wiring from the stock seat. I got a resistor for the airbag, and took the module out of the stock seat, plugged it all in, with the factory 3 point belt attachments, and it's perfect. No lights on, mirrors work. For anyone wondering about this, it's well worth the cost to just get a new harness, especially if you plan on swapping seats back and forth as I am. My car is not a dedicated track car .... Where did you buy your new harness and what PN was it? I tried ordering one from GM parts direct but the order got canceled due to it being on backorder with no ETA of restock.
