Spike III Build 2011 IBM 1SS/RS [COTW 6/25/12]
Very nice job. Really looks awesome & matching up the insert paint lines great job. I put the same one in mine but did Carbon fiber. I had mine tapped up for about a month before cutting it. I wrote across it go ahead you ain't got the balls to cut me. After this project I put the 3-D carbon vents in the front fenders. All pics in my build.

Hex Vent
Did you experience any problem with engine temperatures, after you installed this Hex Vent, some member say the 2010 model hood wasn't designed for this type of vent and could cause down draft affecting the engine temps.

Hood seal
Or just pluck the whole hood seal off and put it in the trunk. If for some reason you don't like it, put it back on.

What about rain? Does it get in the engine bay? And what is the factory t-stat degrees anyways?

^^^ Not sure who you are asking this to, but no I have NO issues with the rain getting in the back side of my cowl, and it rains a lot here in Fl. Also I believe the factory t-stat is 195*, I have a Mishimoto 169* in mine.

I figured I would just comment on here instead of making a new post, but does anyone have dimensions for the cutting? I’m ready to get it done

And does anyone by chance know anywhere you can actually still acquire the Hines Hex Vents?

The last time this topic came up about the Hines Hex Vents and I did some research, I had a set in my stock hood, but sold them when I got my cowl hood, they are no longer being made by Steve Hines. Last time I chatted with him about them years ago, he was having issues getting the materials to make them anymore, so he quit making them. That was several years ago. There are some folks out there that do have a set "just sitting around", or have them installed in a hood their not using, I've seen them post on here, but are reluctant so sell them. At one time it took me a year to talk a guy into selling his to a friend of mine, but he eventually did. If you are looking for a set, I have to say it will be like looking for that "needle in a haystack"!! Good luck..

"some member say" is (forgive me for being blunt) utter horsecrap.... That is not at all directed at you.... Serious info.... I had a set of Hex Vents on my factory hood, and went well over 200 mph with ZERO issues from the vents or the hood.... If you understand the effects of wind over a moving vehicle, factoring separation boundaries and compressions zones as well as other factors... Where the air is moving up over the front of the car, and trying to follow the contours of the hood, the air cant stick to the hood, and separates creating a low pressure zone, which will pull air from the engine bay, out over the windshield. Prior to the installation of mine, my hood bounced at pretty much any speed over say 125 mph.... With the installation of the vents, and the removal of the rubber weather stripping at the firewall, my hood was rock steady at speeds over 200 mph... It also showed a significant drop in underhood temperatures... I ran numerous Texas Mile events with them before going to a bigger cowl induction hood with my bigger build.... I blew lifted a head and blew a hood gasket at one event, with the Hex Vents.... The radiator fluid didn't drop down under the car, but rather came up out of the engine bay and over the windshield.... I've got a video of the somewhere... I was convinced....

Rain gets into the engine bay through the grill if you're moving at any decent road speed.... True story...
