Yeah this would need to be at least $10k less than a non-branded title ZL1. Otherwise thats a bad deal.

You know how it goes, David, on a forum where people are practically anonymous... all of a sudden everyone becomes an expert and the shrewdest negotiator on the block, got their cars almost for free and wouldn't pay a dime extra to the "stealership"

A buyback is a lemon, typically due to a single repeated failure point; if you are able to acquire detailed information, identify the reason and turns out the new engine very likely solves the problem, the price isn't terribly bad and I don't see why any dealer in their right mind would discount the car into the used SS range.

Also, there is the powertrain warranty and any extensions you may be able to negotiate. You would do wise to research the servicing infrastructure around London, I would not buy this (or any other) ZL1 without finding at least one service department that is able to take care of me down the road.

All that said, this is your money and your time, thus 100% your call after all.

This was my thinking as well.

Not sure if they’d put an engine in after the buy back. Why not do it before.

My guess is they did & it still didn’t fix the issue hence the buy-back. If that is the case, RUN! Right now you could spend $10K more & get a brand new ‘21.

I wouldnt pay $54K for ANY used 2018 ZL1. It could have 500 miles on it for all I care. Too much for a car with such little to no warranty. Of course I am mentally still stuck in Pre-COVID market, so I will be waiting.

If you purchased a new 21 ZL1 today and traded it in a week later, you wouldn't get $54k for it on trade.

Boom! That's all the perspective one needs I think.

It's unfortunate, but Camaros don't retain value very well and depreciate more than most domestic cars.

You guys seem to forget that this is a ZL1 1LE.

So when my engine completely detonated with 18,500 miles on it and they put a brand new ($11,000) engine in it under warranty.... I could've made GM buy the car back?

I thought it had to be a repeat issue of three times or more?

That said I wouldn't have made them buy it back. The way I look at it i got a free 18,500 miles and a new 5 year engine warranty.
