To zl1 or zl1le?
So how is the ride between a 2020 zl1 and the 1le model? Looking at buying one and the dealership near me has both so would like to put some miles on and being older really do not want to be beaten up driving a car. Is it worth the extra money if you will occasionally track it but the real purpose is to drive it around to town.

I have a 19 ZLE 6 speed and I looked at the regular ZL1 but there are more of them then the ZLE, well in my area anyway and if you get the right tire on the ZLE then it's a blast driving it around town, I have no regrets getting the ZLE, I traded a 17 1SS for the ZLE and honestly to me the ride between the 2 is no different well at lest in my perspective, but when your grabbing gears then it's a blast.

I went from an SS 1LE (same suspension as a ZL1) to a ZLE about a month ago. It’s definitely a bumpier ride, but it’s not that noticeable unless the roads are really bad. I daily drive mine with no regrets so far.

IMO if you're not going to really track the car, the $7k+ is better spent elsewhere. A reg ZL1 is hard enough to handle in the rain, I could only imagine what a ZLE would be like, lol.

If you go with the ZLE, replace the tires with PS4s and save the stock tires for the track. The stock tires wear quickly, pick up every loose stone on the road and are dangerous in the rain or cold. You won’t notice much difference in handling with the PS4s on the street and the ride is noticeably improved.

As a practical matter it's a race car with license plates. The faster it goes, the more stable it becomes. This type of car either appeals to you or doesn't. It's not an Impala.

The ride between a ZL1 and a ZL1 1LE is pretty different. The ZL1 has magnetic dampers that, when adjusted to tour by the push of a button, does a decent job at giving a smooth ride over bumps.
The ZL1 1LE has fixed suspension that you can adjust, manually, but it's a LOT harsher even when set to its softest setting. You'll feel every bump in the road even if you think the road it's smooth. |

If you currently have a ZO6 a ZLE might not be all that different.
If not looking to seriously track it I think the looks between the two would be a greater determining factor than ride. Either you love the looks of the big wing & the front, or you’re indifferent to it, or maybe just don’t like it. For me personally I wanted the drivetrain more than anything else. The base ZL1 is fancy enough on the exterior. |
