Man, I need to look into that.

These threads make my stomach turn. I hate seeing these cars damaged like that.

so at 142k his L99 didn't have any lifter issues like i have said there is no rhyme or reason to that lifter failure. my friends 07 suburban is good to go at 212k and that is suppose to be the worst year for that lifter failure.
my neighbor's dad sells insurance he insured his 57 with grundy. that is not a option for me at this time i drive my maro every day because i can't get enough of it.
Camaro_Fuzion it was paid for so if it were me i would pull what i could (that's what i did) it runs and drives you should be able to recoup some cash even with the high miles as it sits it's got to be worth 4 to 5k.i see non wrecked 5th gens with over 100k going for 9 to 11k all the time if you got the cash. getting a 2011 financed from a good bank can be difficult.i had great credit so i went through a credit union and got 3% on a 2012 i feel like that was a great rate.
good luck with a replacement you may end up better off. financially i am but i do mis my ls3. :(

I wonder what their mileage limits are to qualify for coverage. I don't use mine as a daily anymore, only like 400 miles a month and that's at the high end. But I do have high mileage at 157k now.

Speaking of high milage, I had 153k miles when I blew my L99. But it was a hydrolock due entirely to my stupidity. The lifters looked fantastic during disassembly, but the entire time I ran the L99 I was always worrying about when they might fail. I constantly felt I was on borrowed time with the AFM lifters. So I just made sure to always use a high quality synthetic oil and change frequently. I also had AFM disabled in the tune. If someone is determined to keep the AFM lifters then there is really not much more that can be done, aside from praying to the gods and relying on luck.

I'm going to try and sell mine for $6K Use the money and my excellent credit and cash available to get another car. This car in total has been in three accidents. One happened before I owned it. The second time I was rear ended. And now this accident (3) What happens to the title if the car is deemed totaled? Should I cut out the left and right side top skirt air bags that were deployed? I remember right after the accident the air bags deployed and my engine shut off. Is there a reset switch anywhere?

Unlimited mileage with Grundy. So drive it all you want. They just don't want you to use it for everyday errands, basically leaving it unattended in parking lots. But even if you do, you're still covered. Hell, you could say you had to run in to use the bathroom.

A couple of burning questions I still have for the group. What happens to the car if it's deemed totaled? Does the DMV send me a salvage title? I have the title. I also do not have the option of having a claims adjuster come out to me for a free estimate. I don't want to pay for multiple tows to said body shop and then to my drive way. Speaking of which, does anyone know any affordable towing company? Last but least, should I cut out the left and right side top skirt air bags that were deployed? I remember right after the accident the air bags deployed and my engine shut off. Is there a reset switch anywhere? I know it's a lot of questions to take in. I just having all my options on the table with your thoughts and how you would proceed in this situation.

I have seen companies online whom will give you a check and tow your vehicle away. Those said companies repair deemed totaled, salvage vehicles and resell them to used car lots and car auctions. I would like to get it repaired if possible.

I'm just glad you're OK but of course then the emotional attachments to the car and confusion set in. My heads on a frickin swivel when I'm driving(and I have a bad neck from being rear ended). Dosen't matter, my pops always told me "you could be the best driver in the world but their are idiots out there behind the wheel". Good luck with everything.

This would only make sense if you are happy to keep it until it's worth zero. The risk is that you won't be happy with its condition after repair.
I'm going to sell in said condition. If I can get $5 to $7K I will break even. There's still many great working parts. I'm sure the car could also be fixed by someone who dose body shop work. You would be amazed what kind of mad skills people out there have.

Glad you're ok, but I'm sad to have to agree with others that it's probably totaled. With the side airbags going that's enough to warrant quite a bit of force hitting that car and likely will say that it's totaled. My G8 GT got hit a number of years ago and they quit counting the damage at $20k with the driver's side taking a pretty strong impact. Good luck and again, I'm glad you're ok.

A GM collision specialist told me the same thing in an email reply.

"'It’s hard to tell from the photos but, it looks like it also damaged to left rocker panel area which is under the door. It’s the part that when you open the door you step over it to get inside the vehicle. That part is a structural part of the vehicle & looks like it needs to be replaced. From what I can tell the vehicle does look like a total loss due to the outside damages & the air bag damages. Cost of the repairs would be more than the value of the vehicle."

I will be sharing some new pictures next week.

At first glance it looks like a lot of sheet metal damage. I am finding out the metal thickness on Camaro skin is like a beer can! The body shop will have to hang frame gauges on it and see if it lasers out. if a pull needs to be made will it be too much not to become a salvage title car? They will know.

I wish I knew if the frame gauges on it could be lasered out. I've head of some specialty body shops that can heat treat the metal body frame and bend it back into position. Or the body shop could cut out the bent frame sections and wield replacement frame parts in it's place. I might get an estimate from a body shop or just sell the vehicle as is with a salvage title. Anything that is not damaged from the accident. I plan on removing all the upgrade parts and installing them all onto my 2011 Camaro 2SS. It will be a fun project in the next coming weeks. Someone will still be able to buy my wrecked car with salvage title. The car can still be driven in said condition. I'm sure it's totaled but repairable. The cars we've all come to love no matter the age or condition. Depreciates in value over the years. I've been driving my 2010 Camaro 2SS for over 11 years before the accident happened. If I can get $5 to $7k in said condition. I would be coming out even dollar wise. Based on the age and condition of the car. It's a known fact that Camaro models from 2010-2012 are in demand for their parts. I'm happy that the car still functions and drives. At least it's not a total loss for me guys. A total loss means the car would not be drivable.

This is an example of a total loss Camaro.

Here's a picture of my new Camaro 2SS 2011 Complete with sunroof and HUD.
