Chances of the LT5 in a Camaro might be higher now!!
First off, I was adamantly against it and 100% sure that it would not happen in the 6th Gen. But that was when the 7th Gen was supposed to arrive for 2021/2022. Now that it has been pushed back, and now that the GT500 will have 760 HP, I doubt GM would leave the ZL1 as it is. So I gotta say, I really do think the Camaro will get the LT5 or some variant of it. Maybe not the full 755 HP. Maybe a 710-730 HP version. And maybe not a "ZL1". Maybe some other version of the Camaro. But I now think that leaving a 650 HP engine untouched in the 6th Gen ZL1 or having that as the highest HP offering for a Camaro for what will be about 8-10 years would be ridiculous. I think that we just might see a higher output something in the next 2 years. Even if they do just bump the ZL1 up a bit...and the Z06 with it. Thoughts??

You forget, they can't just stuff the engine in there and call it a day.
They would have to do all the tuning and testing to configure the car to handle what that engine can do to it. If they did completely reassign all of the Camaro team, then there is no personnel or budget left to do this research and development.

Since they have quit making the C7 Corvette, then it should be a real possibility. The ZR1 LT5 was made as a one year only. Why not a 1 year only or two for LT5 ZL1. It does make sense.

I hope they do, but I'm starting to doubt GM will spend any more money on the current platform if they're even remotely considering axing it.

The current ZL1 is a terrific corner carver but it is lacking on a dragstrip. Chevy might consider the LT5 in a drag package as they already have a foundation for a drag car. It's called a COPO but they need an emissions legal form of that
vehicle. No reason they can't do that and strengthen the drive train to live without nannies. They can place a limited warranty on the car as does the Demon. They could command a premium price for the car and people would anti up for it. It's a win win move.

I have to give you one thing BW, you're consistent in your message. When things look bad, just pretend the opposite is happening and proclaim victory.
I think it's all just wishful thinking at this point. |

GM is a car company. It's not like they can't do what it takes to install the LT5 in a . . . car.
I don't want to see GM take it on the chin again and not meet/beat the GT500's power rating (bragging rights and all). So the Camaro has a solid 3 years left. Do you think they will just leave the ZL1 as is? |

All the ZL1 needs is a bigger SC and better fuel system. They could even source a 2.3 SC to keep power lower than the LT5 and just upgrade the fuel. They could make it 720-730. But how much are people willing to pay for such a combo on a camaro. 80k? 90k?

They are paying near $100k for a Demon so why not a Camaro? May as well take the car out with a statement. Since women like battery powered toys it makes perfect sense that GM is going electric.

Wishful thinking on a LT5 being put in a ZL1!
