I knew that there wasn't going to be a lot of gains up top, but the tuner did coax another 10 peak HP. Not much and not enough for me to feel the difference.

The improvement that I saw with the dyno tune was pretty much all drivability. Having the car tuned properly made all the difference. My most recent remote tune was horrible. The RPMs would see-saw as it hunted for idle RPM, and the car liked to die at stoplights if I didn't keep the RPMs just right before letting it settle into an idle. This was after several datalogs and revised tunes.

The local tuner has my car running perfectly. No more having to keep it running manually at stoplights, dashpot is working perfectly now and low RPM bucking and surging is gone. Drvability is normal now (as normal as it can be with an aftermarket cam).

My take is this - Remote tunes are fine for bolt ons, but I'll never go that route again with modified internals. Perhaps I chose the wrong remote tuner to begin with, I really don't know. All I know is that I am done with remote tunes.
Again this comes down to the tuners experience not the fact the he owns the dyno, you obviously found a better tuner than you were using.

Idle control and driveability are were novice tuners fall short.

I could have fixed your tune remotely in one try, in fact you would have never experienced any of the issues you did if you chose JRE.

I have been fixing a lot of them LOL.

I have remote tuned some of the most highly modified cars around the world with perfect results.

So choose your remote tuner wisely, good work ain't cheap and cheap work ain't good.

The guy that has the lowest price will never work as hard and will make excuses when it doesn't run right.

Ted.

remote tune as good as a in person?

In person Dyno tune over a remote tune for sure! I’m sure it depends on remote tuners, but I like the fact of having the tuner in person there just in case to notice if anything is wrong mechanically. The shops I have all gotten tuned at have a pre-checklist they do before even strapping it onto the dyno for a tune. Just extra security and not having to worry about data logging back and forth.
For simple bolt on cars, I think remote tuning should be fine.

What's needed to make this happen? One of our Camaro club friends tracks his Camaro with one of your cams and he's very pleased with the results. We are at ~4300ft with crap 91 octane. My Camaro mods include a Cam Motion LLSR (235/.646" 244/.623" 114/+4 and Frankenstein heads, Circle D 3600 stall.

I'm ready for a remote tune by you when you are ready. Temps are in the 70s until Tuesday and there are highways that have very little traffic...I live in a very rural area.

I started this thread and all said and done. I want Ted to remote tuning my car again. I live in Michigan and dealt with a couple tuners. I have found its getting harder to find someone that will tune my car if I do my own work. The shops will only tune if they do the work. I'm also reluctant to do upgrades little at a time due to tunes each time. But with Ted I can add things as I like and not be worried about getting nailed for a high price tune each time, if I can find someone to tune it anyway. Thanks Ted love how you run your business.
