ATF change

I have 124,900K miles and the ATF fluid has never been changed, is now a good time to do it with this many miles before something goes wrong?

Don’t touch it. Bad idea.

With that many miles, changing the fluid will, most likely, result in transmission slipping.

I have gone over 200,000 without changing ATF on other cars. If there are no leaks and you don't do a lot of racing, don't worry about it.

Well. FWIW, I recently junked an Equinox with 280,000 miles, much of it urban driving. Never changed the ATF and never had a problem with the tranny.

The recommended change internal with filter is 100,000 miles. You're not that far overdue. Don't take it to an oil change shop and just have it flushed. Drop the pan, change the filter and fluid the right way. I don't believe neglectingng it further is the best choice. If you wait too long the filter could clog and that will cause slipping.

The modern fluids these things use are pretty tough. I really doubt you do any damage at 25000 over the change interval.

I was planning the exact thing buying extra fluid running it draining it again leaving no old fluid inside.

The only new car I had that I changed at 50k like it said went out at 65k. I’ve had a lot of new cars and haven’t touched any of the others and haven’t had to.

Your tranny fluid is almost 10 years old man..change it, but don't flush it.

Don't flush. Just drain, replace filter and refill with new fluid.
