Subwoofer thoughts Convertible
Not sure if the question is best here or the convertible forum But here goes. Has anyone put a small/thin sub under the top stack so when it lowers it sets on the sub woofer? It looks to be several inches there and I was thinking of maybe a powered JLAudio 8 or 10 inch box under the top stack. They are thin and sound is very good. Also will the sound vent to the front. I'm looking to hear my bass not just thumping down the road like I have a flat tire....
Thanks for any input... |

I put a truck box under the top. I had my installer modify it so that I could set it to be down firing instead of up. That way it would not rattle the top while it is down. I have a JL W3 10" in the box and it sounds pretty good. The more important part is to make sure you have them hook your LC7i or LC2i up to the correct inputs. I have an LC7i and found the best sound came from having it hooked up so that the front and rear speakers both fed the sub output. This gave me the best sound for my tastes but everyone is different so you may want to try it out a few different ways. I am also planning to upgrade to the NAVTV or the PAC MOST adapters in the future. I will probably go with the PAC since it is so much more affordable but am waiting until they work out the bugs.

I had custom box built for a JLW610", but I have my amplifiers and sound processors under the top stack.
Sound is good with top up, top down, not so much at certain frequencies. I am changing that my building custom fiberglass boxes for JLAudio 6.5" W3 woofers in the back, where the current 6.5" midranges are I have NavTV and separate H8 processor, so have flat signal, going to another flat signal, then tuned properly.

Is the trunk ported enough in a convertible or is anything more needed there ?

Thank You every one. Missed out on the JBL deal. But now that I know you can slide a sub up under the top I'll keep my eyes open and pick one up and install it. Thanks again
