Reinforced trunk lid part#
Okay. Quick question. I have seen on several threads on the forum 2 different part# for the reinforced trunk lid for the zl1 1le. 84282675 and 84182144.
Can anyone confirm which one is correct?? |

Lethal Camaro stated numerous times that he confirmed that the SL1 1LE lid came absolutely no different than his 2016 SS lid. Not sure I don't think that wasn't a fluke or something. I.E. one of the first ones made and they forgot to add stiffener plate. Or maybe Matt didn't know what to look for? After all he isn't an engineer and he will tell you that. Lmao

84282675 is the one you want. 84182144 is the decklid that has no holes for the spoiler, and 84200621 is the lid that has the holes for the blade spoilers (your current decklid part number).
There is no special reinforcement for the ZL1 1LE wing, you can use any SS or ZL1 decklid of the same part number (one that has the 3 stanchion wing design) and it will bolt right up. Only reason your SS 1LE lid won't work is because you'll have a lot of extra holes to fill once your blade spoiler is removed and then more holes to drill to put the new wing on. To clarify where the confusion first came from, I believe I saw a post somewhere that Al O. mentioned more reinforcement being needed for that wing early on, but once production rolled around the part numbers came out the same (meaning they're identical parts). My guess is that somewhere along the way they found out that they didn't actually need the reinforcement so they never brought it to production to save $$$$ and never bothered to put out another statement to correct what was previously stated about the reinforcement.

There is a GM bulletin on this. All 2018 trunks are reinforced the same. The 2016-17 are not. Not sure what exactly the extra reinforcement done is, myself.
17-NA-310 2018+ Model Years The mounting holes for the ZL1 1LE high wing spoiler wing and the SS / ZL1 stanchion spoiler are the same. If the customer has a car equipped with a stanchion spoiler the swap can be made easily as the holes for the fasteners will line up. Important: If the ZL1 1LE high wing is installed, the customer should be strongly encouraged to purchase the ZL1 1LE front splitter as well, as the extra downforce will be needed on the front end of the vehicle for handling. 2016-2017 Model Years The ZL1 1LE high wing rear spolier uses the same mounting holes as vehicles equipped with a stanchion spoiler. Installation of the ZL1 1LE high wing rear spoiler requires internal reinforcement to the decklid due to the downforce the high wing provides. 2018 Camaro decklids are produced with the internal reinforcement. Addition of the ZL1 1LE high wing spoiler may cause the decklid to buckle on a 2016/2017 Camaro unless the decklid is replaced with a 2018 reinforced decklid. Important: If the ZL1 1LE high wing is installed, the customer should be strongly encouraged to purchase the ZL1 1LE front splitter as well, as the extra downforce will be needed on the front end of the vehicle for handling. EDIT: you beat me to asking lol. I'll try to look into the PN history to see if I can find anything. I'll also try to take a look at the PN on my decklid to see what's there...

It is likely that the 2018+ rear decklid is a supersession to the 2016+ all together... |
