geez, thats a lot of boost.im guessing at over 500 horsepower to run low 11s?what else did you have to do to the motor?

The shift points were set to 7500 RPM, the RPM limit was set to 8000 RPM. But when the input shaft broke the engine had no load on it so it spun to 8300 RPM before the ECU finally cut everything off. With MACE cams the longer duration allowed the engine to keep breathing past redline.

When I ran the 11.2 it was on 14 PSI of boost, I had a 6 rib belt running everything and the belt stretched out after a few times spinning up. Switched to a 10 rib independent system, no slippage now. When I made that run the engine internals were stock. I do my own tuning and I spray water through the intake to help cool the combustion chamber down. On the stock pistons and rods, I've ran it to 7300 RPM, 17 PSI of boost with 31 degrees of timing on a 0.92 lambda AFR. The pistons are strong as long as you don't have detonation pounding them.

The biggest killer of these engines is running it low on oil, you have to check the oil every time you fill it up with gas.

When were the low oil level indicator & upgraded PCV valve added to V6 vehicles? I've heard 2013 vs 2014.

Don't know, seems to be a lot of misinformation about the years. I did my own PCV setup, replaced both barbs on the valve covers with AN fittings, and run them straight to 2 separate catch cans.

Well the original v6 on my 2013 lasted only to 114k miles and grenaded about 70 miles from home. I always did my services early and never went beyond the factory intervals and ran Mobil 1 most of the time. Every once in a while the dealer put in their GM AC Dexos by mistake instead of Mobil 1 and I just would change it early.

When I first got my 2013 I talked about doing a track day and asked about performance mods but since it was my daily driver and my wife's breast cancer returned after 12 years that did not happen. I got one low oil message one time on a hill prior to an oil change. Besides that and the radio/hvac system taking a complete crap 7 months prior I have had no other issues.

I wish I could say that the v6 would last but the dealer service writer told me that these v6 engines are not designed to last past 100k.

Hopefully, your wife is doing better.
Are you sure the light was a low oil level indicator, not a low oil pressure indicator?

If accurate, it's seriously disappointing.

Tell your service writer one of our members has over 250,000 miles on his V6 and still going strong.
If you do old school oil changes, PVC mod, keep the oil full, run top quality oil, mag drain plug,, it should go and go and go.
Mine doesn't use any oil, gets 33 MPG HWY, and runs like a champ.

62k on my DD, no issues so far. Gotta remember to change that cabin filter though. Just changed it a few days ago and it was basically black.

I wouldn’t believe a word of that.

My ‘10 LLT got traded in with 60k+ and didn’t have any major issues that I didn’t create. That thing ran regular trips to MA, TX, Florida and served me well. My ‘14 LFX is approaching 80k and has been solid and gets regular maintenance. So far so good.
