Hey guys,dont bash me for this I know its been covered in detail over and over,i used to have a 2012 ss,traded it in 14,just bought another 12 rs/ss 45th I had a 1ss and I have to say the 2ss is pretty awesome,anyway point is I have no idea in 6 years what kind of fuel they used.I heard some years will relearn without pulling the fuse,and also there is a fuse in trunk that needs pulled IDK got me confused now Is it still a thing Maybe surfed the internet to much

Pulling a fuse in the trunk has to do with keeping the NPP valves always open (dual mode exhaust) I'm pretty sure that was only available from '13 thru '15 Camaros, and from '12-'15 ZL1 of course.

Just pull the 5 and 20 from the fuse box in the engine bay overnight and reinstall them in the morning. Make sure you've fueled up a few times on 91 plus octane first otherwise the mapping will revert back to lower octane fuel.

You want to make sure you don't have any lower octane fuel in the tank.
Simple as that.

I've got a question though, that someone here can answer;

If your car is tuned, does it make a difference pulling the 5 and 20 if your tune already has a high octane mapping? Does lower octane fuel 'de-tune' your car, or does the tune stay no matter what? Curious...

I think it depends on the tune... I’m tuned by dynosteve and I asked him if I could run 87 octane in my car even though it’s “tuned” for 91. He said there would be no problems as the computer will adjust accordingly to the lower octane. I haven’t done that yet as in the winter months I always go back to stock tune and run 87. This spring I might try it if gas keeps going up.

Your not alone.. I always wondered this also as my car is tuned and I did the fuse pull stuff when I first got it prior to tuning. Glad you asked and will be interested to see if anyone can confirm.

This is correct Steve leaves the Lower Octane tables (I assume) so the car can adjust for fuel which I prefer in case there is a screw up of some sort. I confirmed this with him as well.

I'm tuned for 94 which I can buy here with no problem but I know if I needed to I could always put in 91 in a pinch. So I assume a fuse pull would be needed if I dropped the octane anytime.

I did try the fuse pull way back but saw no change in the car so it must have been in the high octane tables all along.

Correct.

DynoSteve does NOT copy the high octane fuel table over the low octane table.

So if you are DynoSteve tuned, you can still benefit from a fuse pull every now and then.
