Whatever you do do not use 3m adhesive remover, it will turn your grill gray. This was my first time ever having a problem with this product, i used it to remove rear ss badge and it just falls off

the entire block the emblem is affixed to comes off the grill.... there is just a plastic piece on the backside of the grill that locks it on... way easier to remove than the bow tie

I just did this to replace my SS emblems with some painted by River City Creations. I think the easiest way to get the block off is to reach under the emblem and pull down and slightly forward on the back edge to release the tabs on the "lock" piece from the back side.

Is the bowtie attached in the same type of manner? ...with a block that comes off the front grill completely?

No

I just installed one on me sema grille. There are two very thin plastic alignment pegs in the back, one is much longer than the other. It has full 3m vhb adhesive on the back.

I'd probably try the fishing line method - worm it under the adhesive a bit then try and pull.. if that doesnt work, continue sawing the line under the emblem to cut the adhesive.

I just put my hands in behind the badge, inside the grille, work/play around it and it pop right out. Hope it helps lol. Took less than 1 minutes without knowing how it was attached by just playing around.

what does the front grill look like when you remove both the bowtie and the backing?

Unfortunately, the bowtie mount is molded into the upper grille texture so only the bowtie is removable unlike the ss badge on the lower grille. You can see on my car I have the bowtie removed to modify it. Post #1318 in the hyper blue thread, you posted a reply to it lol.

Can the fishing line/dental floss method be used to take the coloured "facing" from the SS emblem on the grille? I want to just replace with a colour matching "SS" logo. Anybody have any input? Thanks!

You will paint or wrap right over the red, no problem.
