If you think this looks "square and ugly"... well okay, everyone's entitled to their opinion.

Doc, seeing the design in 3d really makes that fascia look like a slab. I wonder if you edited the 2d model to open the front end a bit. Here's a very quick edit of your sketch.

The current front as-is doesn't bother me but I can certainly move up those elements you pointed out and see how it looks. The majority of this current front style was the result of ALLTRBO's suggestion in the first place so input and feedback does matter. :)

Okay based on your suggestion I raised the front cutouts. I left the license plate and top edges of the lower LED's where they were originally so you can see how much I raised the cutouts. I didn't go as radical as you did; the crash bumper still has to be in the front so this leaves room for it. Does this look better to you?

I think the change is noticeble, but too subtle in my opinion, to address the visual mass of that front bumper. But thank you for entertaining my suggestion and interpreting it into your model.

Patience padawan. It takes a bit to figure out what to change, how and how much. Here's a further revision; I moved the entire upper front of the car down some and revised the front fender line. I also made some changes to the brake cooling cutouts in front to help balance out the upper bumper area.

Just so you can appreciate what's required to make changes of this size, here's what I see on my computer screen when I'm working on this:

It takes awhile to think about what I want to change and how to do it without messing everything up. There are a lot of subtle details in the mesh that I have to keep track of and change accordingly to follow changes made elsewhere.

If you look at the current 2014 refresh front, what mine looks like now with the revised front bumper area is not all that much different than the 2014.

Wow really liking the red and black! I have been following this thread for awhile now and it just keeps getting better and better. Thank you Doc for everything you do. I know this stuff probably isn't easy by any means. I definitely give props to you.

Thank you! :thumb: I have more plans for the black and red one. I want the Z/28 version to basically look like a street-legal SR-71. :D

After working with this new front I think I like it better than the old one. I like the new front fender line; visually it feels like it fits better with the overall side profile.

Obviously I don't have a dash or steering wheel in place yet but here's the driver's view:

Looking straight forward; both the side and interior rear view mirrors are visible.
Attachment 568708

Looking to the driver's left you can see the improved visibility for corners.
Attachment 568709

If you turned and looked over your shoulder to see behind you, this is the view looking towards the rear quarter area. As you can see the blind spot is much less than the current 5th gen.

Out of curiosity Doc - do you think it'd be able to keep not having a B-pillar for production?

Only reason I ask is because the 5th gen concept didn't have a B pillar - and yet we got stuck with one

Probably not. I'm sure there's either a side-impact and/or crash rollover regulation that requires a B pillar. I probably should put one in there just to see what it would do to the visibility and visual appearance.

Would it be a lot of work to render it? If it is I can PS one in.

Here are a couple of snapshots with a B pillar. Not sure how big to make it so it may be too small, but you can definitely see it here. It does cut down the space of the quarter window but it probably has to be there because of some regulation.

Yes....not that is closer to the front end that I've been hoping you'd do! lol

There was just too much distance between the top grill and lower inlets...especially on the sides so that really helps clean it up!

No it does not have to be there because of regulations but it does make it easier and cheaper to meet the rollover regulations. I am pretty sure there are still cars built without the B pillar that meet the rollover standards.

Haven't had the time to do much of anything new. I spent WAY too much time on this to begin with to the neglect of other things lol but tonight I managed to create some colors in different shades to see how they'd look. I like blue so I came up with 4 new versions, and I've included Red, White and Silver for contrast.

Anybody have any favorites?
