The Camaro raises it’s own bar. That’s what designer Adam Barry had to say about the new 2017 1LE variants of the sixth-generation Camaro, “The 5th generation car was great, but we can’t rest on our laurels and wait for someone else to raise the bar, we need to do that ourselves.”

I admit, I was genuinely surprised with what I saw, and that doesn’t happen very often. Chevrolet granted a sneak peek of the Camaro 1LE, and I was reminded of an Oprah Winfrey show, where she gave stuff away to her viewers. “You can have one. And you can have one. You ALL can have one! Yay!”

Alright, enough hooks and teasers. Here’s the big news The Camaro 1LE is back – in two very big ways: First of all – you can now order one in V6 form. (No, the engine size was not a typo) And secondly: the SS version of the outstanding track package for the Camaro includes A LOT more equipment than before.

2017 Camaro 1LE Package to Debut at Chicago Auto Show Next Month

The 2017 Camaro 1LE will have its debut at the upcoming 2016 Chicago Auto Show, which begins on February 11.

The 1LE package for the 5th generation Camaro was a track focused package of upgrades for the Camaro SS, and is expected to be the same for the 6th gen when it’s revealed in just about two weeks.

A 1LE prototype was recently spotted in this video, which gives us a rough preview of what body styling it might receive. Stay tuned here for all the official details as they’re announced!

6th gen Chevy Camaro ZL1 Convertible Spied Undergoing Winter Testing

A 6th gen Camaro ZL1 Convertible prototype has been spotted undergoing winter testing. The ZL1 convertible is expected to be powered by a supercharged LT4 V-8 engine, with power output likely consistent with the 640 horsepower and 630 lb/ft. of torque LT4 variant found in the Cadillac CTS-V.

The 3.6L V6 (LGX) engine powering the 2016 Camaro V6 model has been named one of the 10 best engines in the 2016 Ward’s 10 Best Engine competition. Here’s some of the feedback on the engine (read more inside):

GM’s all-new 3.6L direct-injection V-6 (codename LGX) that powers the Cadillac ATS and all-new Chevrolet Camaro earns its place on the list for demonstrating so clearly that a V-6 no longer should be a consolation prize for a customer who really wants a V-8 but can’t afford one.

Naturally aspirated with 335 hp, the high-compression LGX achieves an impressive specific output of 92 hp/L, all while running on regular unleaded fuel.

And like the BMW engine, this 3.6L has plenty of torque in fifth and sixth gears. No matter the vehicle speed, this all-aluminum V-6 does some of its best work close to the 7,200-rpm redline.

This 2016 Camaro SS ran a 10 second quarter mile!
