That's a good price for that engine. If anyone does any research at all they will realize that. No flaming is warranted.

I am really confused on what I want to do too with my Camaro..
Maybe you guys can help me...LOL Should I sell it and buy another platform that has a lighter base weight? C5Z or C6Z? My problem is that I cannot just "go to the track" and do same lap times and be happy. I gotta always improve. 3+ yrs developing this car and I couldn't be happier with it just wish that I could snap my fingers and it drop 500lbs! I just dont think I can go much faster, yeah could be later on the brakes but that is high risk move cause if you over shoot a turn it is hard coming back. Yeah stop buying "take offs" and buy new Michelin slicks and go faster for 1st 4 or 5 sessions while they are fresh but seen the prices of them? Sometimes I think to myself "How many seconds a lap would I loose if my car magically lost 400-500 in between track sessions on a perfect track day?" I gotta believe, not pushing any harder, that the car would go 1.5 seconds a lap faster....and that inlies why I am thinking of selling the car. OK as far as selling your Camaro, I think that would be a mistake. That being said a 2008 Corvette Z06 at 3132 pounds and perhaps some power upgrades to 5-600 RWHP would make a GREAT track car. Those cars currently can be bought for about 45K. Now I WOULD NOT trade straight up my Camaro for a 2008 Corvette but I have done ALOT of work to make a very good car a great track car. My general feeling is a STOCK 2008 Corvette Z06 with the right tires would go around a road course QUICKER than a stock SS 1LE. Michelin TAKEOFF SLICKS by the way can be bought for about 125 dollars a tire including shipping. https://www.bimmerworld.com/Wheels-Tires/Tires/ You are going to need to get some 18 inch wheels.

My car is fully caged and all the safety equipment. Trading is for a stock Z would be crazy. Yeah I get them for that price and I have two sets of 18. Stock for stock Z would be faster but this will be max effort roadrace car. |

What would it take to get your car down to say - 3250?
How reliable are those takeoffs? |

If you wanted to BOTH use your car for the track and as a daily driver, 3250 pounds would not be feasible. EMPTY weight now I m probably around 3550. The STOCK SS seats weight around 55 pounds each side and you save only about 50 pounds if you replace those with race seats. But you pick up weight with things like roll bars and seat harnesses. You of course could go hog wild and take off the AC compressor, sound insulation, back seat, passenger seat and use carbon fiber body panels yada yada. I am not sure even THEN whether you could get to 3250. I never went down that path so I cant say ABSOLUTELY that it is not possible.
