Do a search in the cosmetic section, there are at least 15 threads on this. Read the FAQs on the xpel site.

I didn't because I don't see the value in it.

I learned from my 2010 Camaro. Gotta do clear bra!! impact areas on this car take a beating in no time. since then I did it on my 13/17/and just today on my 2018.
Installer said to me what took you so long? 1800 miles and it has a couple of chips already. Use Suntek, its made in the USA and less orange peel.

If you plan on running the stock goodyear tires, which are so sticky they pick up every rock in the county and throw it against your car...you might need the expel. I learned on my C6 vette, that the rockers, and fenders near the tires take a terrible beating. I buy the material, and do the install on my own.
Or if you dont plan on keeping the car long term, then dont bother. At that point its just another used camaro to someone else.

I had xpel on my last Camaro & really liked it. My car is going in next week to get the entire front bumper/splitter, front fenders, carbon hood cowl, mirrors, a-pillars, partial roof, full rockers, impact area behind the rear wheels & the carbon spoiler.

If you track your car I think it's a must. I just did the front clip everything forward of the windshield + mirrors, minus the splitter.
I also used a combo of Xpel tracwrap and Track Armor track tape on my first track weekend. I learned why the Xpel tape is more expensive (a lot)--thicker and much better adhesive. |

Mine is in right now getting Xpel. Front, hood, both sides, and mirrors. You will get chips on the sides in front of the rear wheels. The rockers stick out also and tend to get kicked a lot getting in/out of the car.

Mine is at the shop getting the Llumar PPF installed. I cringe when I hear the rocks hitting the rocker panels with the soft tires. It was a quick decision for me after hearing the rocks and seeing the condition of my 17 SS when I traded it in without PPF.

I Xpel Ultimate on my car. I bought a kit from tintzoom.com and installed it myself.

Suntek Ultra, Xpel Ultimate, and 3M PPF Pro are all self-healing.
Suntek is visually the best (least haze and orange peel). My installer said it's also easier to install on our angular front bumper (more flexible, less issues). I did Suntek Ultra full front, windshield-surround, rockers up to the body line on the doors, and fore and aft of the rear wheels. All wrappable edges were wrapped and tucked, emblems and heat extractor removed so there are the least amount of edges and seams visible. Cleaning PPF is a breeze (car is also ceramic/hydrophobic coated). I never have to worry about swirls or scratches where I have PPF (not so much elsewhere). If I did it again, I'd save money on the ceramic coating put it toward PPF on the entire car instead. As others have said, if you plan on keeping the car long term and want it to look it's best, then PPF is the way to go! |
