Best time for a Camaro

Hello,

I been a long time lurker, first time poster. I been planning to get a camaro for several years and I hope to have one by the time spring starts. However I was thinking when would be the best time to buy the car. I'm really just looking for a Gen6 1SS model used. I dont know if buying new would be much more different in price or not when comparing the two. Even though I would love to own a brand new Camaro, I first need to think of budget. I read that the best time to buy a new car would be the last couple of days of December does that hold for used cars as well?

Thanks

If you are most concerned with savings and price which are holding you back I would wait for them to try to dump the leftover 17' camaro's but don't pay a new price as it is nearly a year old already. Other than that You're next best chance is when the 2019 comes out and they try to sell off the 2018 cars. You can usually get a good price that way. I think there is a red tag event which is a 20% discount off MSRP. That is huge!

100% this. Chevy does the 20% sale every year and you can pick up a lot of cars for a really good price. I know people were picking up 5th Gen Z28s for around $50k (it was originally a $75k car).

I'm not sure about the "end of December" thing, but are you ONLY looking for a new camaro?

I personally targeted Certified Preowned vehicles, because Camaro depreciation is still fairly high. I was able to get a 2016(9000miles) 2SS with NPP, MRC...pretty much every option but remote start for 34k OTD. Brand new it was 47.9k.

I'd highly suggest looking into those.

They, GM, right before the holidays, usually do a 20-25% off thing when November and December roll around. If you can wait that would be the best time to strike

Bought my 1LE the end of December and got close to 7k off.

Not saying it was the greatest deal compared to 20-25% off but for a first year model 15% isn't bad.

Its not really clear if we'll see the big discounts we saw last year. There is less excess inventory than last year around this time, and with the plant shutdown I know at least the vette guys arent really planning on 20% off this year.

Why wait? Why brand new? Buy used and save a ton of money. www.cars.com

New car sales are down 7% from this same time last year, tho I'm not sure if inventory was compensated as a result. That being said, my dealer just advised me to hold out upgrading until December and we would find that new discounted 2017 2SS with adrenaline red interior I desire.

That said again, more and more used 2016 SS's are popping up for sale online everyday and I suspect that that trend will continue as we move into 2018.

NOW is always the best time IMO. Life is too short just buy one if you really want one.

Maybe if you don't have a budget or any concern for savings, sure.

If I can save an extra 5 grand by waiting 2 months, then now is definitely not the time to buy, for me anyways.

Hell, even with the money lying around 'red tag' discount is nothing to laugh at.
