Early 5th vs 6th gen comparisons
I doubt I have anything new to state that hasn't already been stated. On my 200 mile ride home the creature comforts and plush feeling of the ZL1 was amazing. The view over the hood is greatly improved and the blind spot indicators are a really nice piece of tech. All of the tech screens and options are mind boggling and need further review. My car has PDR and I haven't looked at it yet. It seems like the screens go on forever and the options are immense. The climate controls work well. Did I mention the ride quality of the new ZL1 is absolutely awesome in Tour mode? The car feels exotic compared to the 5th gen and I am very pleased thus far. GM did a great job. 10spd auto is an advanced piece of engineering and works well. Brake pedal feel is very good with firm feedback.
Parking in my garage I could really gauge the smaller scale of the 6th gen. The mirrors have inches to spare vs really tight in the 5th gen.

The Alpha chassis is spectacular, and the Fisher-Price interior is largely gone. As you alluded to, the ride even in Sport is as good as some luxury cars, while still allowing the car to corner flat. It's not perfect, but it's unbeatable for the price. |

It's really hard to compare the 5th and 6th gens. Or maybe not hard but perhaps unfair. When production started on the 5th Gen, the entire future of GM was uncertain. I'm sure corners were cut or changes were made because of all that was happening. Heck, the entire Pontiac and Saturn units were killed the same year production started. And in general, technology and materials have evolved greatly in 8 years (more like 11 years since the concept was shown).
Having said all that, you're right. This car is leaps and bounds above any of the 5th Gen cars. Truly amazing. |

What's the deal with the suspension light on the 5th gens anyway? Unrelated but figured 5th gen zl1 owners can chime in. I drove a buddy's 5th gen zl1 home the other day after he bought it. Had suspension light on but it's a 2015 with 22k miles. Warranty is still there. Anyway, hugeeeee difference between 6th gen and 5th gen. 6th gen feels like a total different type of car meanwhile they're both camaros... amazing job they did on 6th gen.

I'm glad to hear you're liking it thus far Stephen. I knew you would. My drive back from the dealership was over 500 miles, I really got a chance to get a feel for just how great this car is on the road. Though the seats are a bit more snug than the 5th gen, they're not uncomfortable in any way.

The C7 Corvette and especially the interior was such a huge step forward. GM took a lot of the lessons learned there and applied it to the Camaro and even doing some things better.

Not much of a comparison. It seems that they took into account all of the short comings of the 5th gen and made improvements. The only complaint I have with the 6th gen is the seat won't lean back and it would be nice to have some kind of camera or sensor in the front for parking curb purposes! I own both and still love to drive both. The 5th gen still retains the retro look and the 6th leans more toward the cot Evette in my opinion. I didn't like the 6th gen appearance at first but I'm in love with it now! It draws way more attention for sure!

The interior was an improvement with the exception of the front seats not reclining at all and no one bigger than an infant can fit in the back seat! Lol!

My 10yr old rode 80 miles today in the back seat and stated it felt fine. He is average height and his 12yr old brother was riding in front.
