CAI Would you do it again?
Tons of threads on which is best and some feedback on expierences.
Just wanting to know if you really would say it's worth the investment for the performance change. I don't want to go through the hassle and possible warranty issues if it doesn't add any (driver) noticeable power. I know the companies that sell them show proven dyno gains but is 15hp (for example) noticeable when driving with a CAI installed? |

Thanks. I hesitated to open yet another one since I know it's clutter for those who have been on the board a long time.

Sure I like my Rotofab CAI and would do it again. One buyer of the CAI CAI said his did help his times at the track. But only one I know of. While some have claimed 15 HP on a dyno you have to remember that could be a spike from leaning out the flow until the car learns to put things back to normal and the gains go away.
Jannety Racing did some very careful testing on my car with the Rotofab with the dry filter and saw 5 RWHP. Link below. I ran that Rotofab at the track with the oiled filter and saw 0 difference in MPH or ET in similar DA days. So I would not buy a CAI for performance gains on a stock car. But everyone agrees a CAI is part of a good plan if you are going with a PD supercharger or Heads/Cam. Still a CAI is a fun mod and I don't think a CAI is going to destroy your warranty. Has that ever happened? And for me my Rotofab allowed me to gid rid of that awful sound tube and replace it with a much cooler noise from under the hood. http://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=472259

If you are 100% stock a cold air kit is not going to have any appreciable mass air flow gains over the stock box. However, once you start getting to full bolt-on status or greater the stock box is absolutely a limiter from a mass airflow perspective. Sooner or later you will need it to maximize your combination.

What we already have stock is a Ram Air system. There is a snorkel on the front of the box that leads to the grill that bring in fresh air. The only advantage of a CIA is it uses a reusable oil base filter as opposed to the stock paper filter. |

The CAI CAI I have looks good and sounds good. I'd definitely do it again.
