Hershel Walker MMA

So Hershel kicked ass in his MMA debut. He looked like a very well rounded fighter, who if anything, was holding back against his opponent. Got the other guy on the ground a couple times and looked like he almost felt bad for the guy and held back from really going after with ground blows. I'd be interested in seeing if he fights again..... Kimbo vs. Hershel anyone?

Guy is an incredible athlete.

He did really good but I wouldn't say he needs to jump in with someone with devastating punches. It was a test of his athleticism but not a true test of him being a great fighter. He showed lots of promise but we'll have to see a few more fights to see how he can handle some punches. He dominated that guy. I'm wondering hos Hershel's chin is.

Walker showed he was in great conition and had some genuine skills. I do think his opponent, Nagy, looked horrible. His stand-up was just painful to watch and his ground game was so-so. Good 1st fight for Walker, and he shouldn't be fighting guys with too much experience yet. I know Nagy doesn't have a lot of experience either but really feel they set up a "safe" fight for Walker.

I agree with that statement 100%. Guy was ripped and in fantastic shape for 47 years old...hell he was in good shape REGARDLESS of age. He showed that he had some stamina also going those rounds without getting winded. Little more experience and he may shape up to be very good. Shame he started so late as he shows to have a LOT of potential. Just starting late.

great shape, as George St Pierre would say "I was not impressed with your performance"

I will however become more impressed when he actually fights someone with some cred in the business.

Probably will be a UFC fighter. Anytime I watch a Youtube clip of the other organizations (regardless of who the parent company is) I just laugh.

The commentators know nothing about MMA and skill level of the fighters are graded on a handicap compared to UFC.

Meaning your #3 guy in a weight class = probably #10 in UFC.

Say that about the heavy weights. Fedor I believe is still the strongest heavyweight in MMA.

Walker was always a great athlete, and even at 47 he kicks ass.

Dude is 47... He played in the 1980 National championship. I was 7 then.
What he's doing and the shape he is in is completely unbelievable!

Go Dawgs!

Fedor-- one example-- but for the most part, all the greats either are in the UFC or eventually migrate to the UFC. You don't see great UFC fighters migrating away-- they know where the competition is.

I would love for Fedor to actually join the best. But Dana (love him or hate him) wasn't going to be azz raped in the deal, and that is what they tried to do. He was already giving up alot, but Fedor's agent wanted way too much.

So Fedor can keep fighting with the little leagues, he may be great, but I will never see him fight (unless it is on UFC). Because the other crappy people on the card, makes it not worth the money to buy the PPV.

Hershel is one of the best athletes our country has ever produced.

"He has a sixth-degree black belt in tae kwon do and he nearly made the Olympic team in the sprint relay. He competed in the 1992 Winter Olympics in two-man bobsled, finishing seventh. He ran the 100 meters in 10.22, the 100 yards in 9.3. He also won back-to-back American Superstars competitions in 1987 and 1988. Walker stated in a phone interview on The Jim Rome Show on November 20, 2006 that he still performs 2,500 sit-ups and 1,500 push ups every morning. He has been going through this same routine every morning since high school. In 1988, while still a player for the Dallas Cowboys, he danced with the Fort Worth Ballet for a single performance."

Oh...... and...............

"Walker defeated Greg Nagy via TKO in his professional debut. According to the Strikeforce CEO, Walker pledged to donate his fight purse to charity."
