What Oil Filter?

Do you only run these? Curious because of the Oil Thread.

6.2L V8 Engine (this includes the ZL1 also, out of the high performance supplemental manual)

GM = 12640445
ACDelco = PF64

For a funny read the description...

I use a Mobil 1 and Napa Gold on my ZL1 and have had good results!

That is what I have been running, but I will switch to a Fram Ultra Synthetic which is my usual go to filter. It has the right bypass pressure and is a very good filter for the money. I usually get them at the people’s republic of Walmart. It is the only Fram product that I will use.

I will also run a Napa gold in it (if Convenient) which is really a wix filter. From what I understand it actually filters better than the platinum.

I use toilet paper crammed unto a re-useable can. If I get a good paycheck. I might spring for Brawny. That dude makes some tuff paper towels that really clean!

The PF64 has gone thru a few variations over the last year or two. The 12640445 was replaced by 12696048 which was recently replaced by 12706595. All are AC Delco PF64.

Currently I am trying a PF63E on my Camaro. A little larger cannister with more filter media and it has the correct BPV setting of 22 psi. And even with the larger cannister, it doesn't hang down so low as to be a concern.

I am using a Wix WL10290xp on my Z06.

I eventually plan to go 100% Wix after I figure out which version I want to use.

Just in case anything really stupid should happen, I will run the PF64 as recommended to keep any warranty intact.

It is inexpensive and just as good as the other ones listed here.

Thanks for that info on the new PF64 p/n. I wasn't aware of that.

****. Now I feel like an idiot having ordered 10pcs last time. Parts are not readily available here, and when import taxes and fees are paid, regular service items end up being quite expensive. So I try to plan ahead ordering as much as I think I’ll need.

If you bought PF64s I wouldn’t sweat it. The chances of one of those filters creating a catastrophic failure is very highly unlikely.

I blindly use whatever PF64 Amazon shipped me last time there was a rebate, the notice of which I read in this forum. I think the filters ended up being less than $2 each.

One thing I have learned here is that you can always use the cheapest filters and you should change your oil no sooner than 30,000 miles. I guess that's 2 things.
