SS ENGINE SQUEAL FROM BELT, VERY BAD!

Hey guys,

Does some have an idea what is going on with my camaro? It started making this noise and its doing it more often and becoming worse! Has anyone experienced this before?

Thanks in advance!

That sounds more like a bearing than a belt. Take the belt off and check to see if any of the idler/tensioner pulleys are rough.

I’ve had the same issue since I’ve owned the car. No dealer was willing to fix it under warranty in SD. I squirted a few drops of wd40 on the pulleys 4 months ago, and the problem has never returned.

Definitely sounds like a bearing. You can try the old spray and pray method with WD-40 on all the pulleys and see if it goes away.

Definitely sounds like an bearings in one of your pulleys for sure, the bearings are replaceable just get the number off of it and insert new bearings. Or try repacking/squirting some grease under the rubber part.

They checked it out today and told me that harmonic balance damper is broken and needs to be replaced. Does it make sense?

Was there a resolution to this? My Camaro is making the exact same sound.
